One thing Diaz does that drives me nuts

When the offense goes jumbo in critical short yardage situations, we don't counter personnel wise. They'll bring in an extra ol, go te, whatever and we're sitting there with 4 dlineman. It's not even in Diaz's playbook. Goalline, third and short, doesn't matter, we don't have a personnel package to counter an offense going jumbo. It's dorito-esque. When teams line up like this there's no hope of stopping it. It's over before they snap the ball and that's infuriating.

There's only one thing? I can name a minimum of five.

Starting with not removing his own head from his a$$ until the second half.

Truth and for some reason it's always been that way even before Diaz. 80% of the time I like what he calls, the other 20 he channels his inner dorito with strange zone play and not matching up personnel wise. It's maddening. Overall I still think he's good enough. I want to see what his defense looks like with a full slate of Miami caliber DBs.

His primary problems are zone coverage and insistence on personnel packages. Until he addresses these aspects, perhaps with the help and flexibility of better Safeties/Nickel hybrids, we'll ride the rollercoaster.

hes a risk taker. part of the problem is he doesnt have enough athletes on the backend to run the defense he wants. cant risk that with those slow dbs

You mean like this. Glad I wasn't the only one angry about it. 7 guys blocking 4.

On the flip side we should have greater numbers in coverage. How somebody gets open is mind blowing.

So he should work with what he's got. It's the primary reason as an overall DC, he will be decent, but never elite until he learns to adjust. That's what elite DC's do, putting their players in the best possible position to succeed.
