perhaps it's because i knew people who played for him at temple. they said he is an in your face, smashmouth type. he has little tolerance for soft players. i think in private if you ask him, he would say are upperclassmen are soft. However, he hasnt had a chance to coach elite linemen yet. for christs sakes, they had to get a backup dlineman from Virginia and gilbert who has one good foot. that being said, look at the above average talent he has coached. Denzel is an nfl linebacker, tracy is all acc, tyriq is growing into a playmaker, deon will be healthy next year, jenkins has become a playmaker. even jag's like olsen pierre and armbrister have alot gotten into the rotation. i think if this man coached travonte valentine and chad thomas for 3 years and did nothing, then we have an argument. but when your defense is on the field as much as ours mainly because offense can move the ball, they get exhausted, even with fsu depth, that's hard to do. the guarentee aqm, grace, kirby, and figs all make a difference next year along with artie and jamal carter. i think its a personnel issue and at this point i am not ready to give up on him

VT's offense moved the ball against us at will from their second possession on. Were we really physically exhausted only 2 possessions into the game?
 
Still don't make up for running a 4-3 against 4 WR and nonsense like that. Thats common sense! I wouldn't run a 4-3 vs 4 WR playing Madden.
 
The defense is on the field a ton because we cant get off the field on 3rd down. Its their job to get off. Unfortunate that they had to go back after a couple turnovers but I can tell you they werent the first defense ever put in that position, can you atleast force a fg?
 
Every team we've played that matters has moved the ball with ease against us. It's been the same for 3 years.

but Duke held VT to 10 points and to say duke must be full of 4 and 5 stars
 
Stop with the excuses. There has been no progress on defense since the man got here. We don't need a roster full of 5 stars to shut down pathetic offenses.

A coordinator that knows what he's doing can take marginal players and make them look decent by putting them in positions to succeed. Tracy is a stud and would look good if I was coaching the D, pretty much everyone else looks lost out there most of the time though.
 
Admirable defense (op's attempt at defending D'onofrio I mean).

Setting aside my personal feelings on D'onofrio, I think our biggest problem is we don't have a single stud on the defensive line. We don't have a single player that teams have to double-team and account for every play. When you don't have anyone who is singularly disruptive, blitz protection becomes manageable, predictable and much easier to execute.

We don't have a single DT that scares William & Mary's offensive coordinator much less a BCS opponent. Not one.

Shayon is well...Shayon. And I think he has actually improved from last year (which may not be saying much). As for Chick, he is just not quick enough. If I was a coach (instead of just a message board corch), I'd look at adding some weight to him in the offseason and getting him some looks on the inside. He should be comparatively quicker.

On the bright side, I do think McCord and AQM are legit.

HE CANT RECRUIT, what about that cant you comprehend???.... on top of that he's a garbage DC.
 
A short while ago it was wait until Forston, Robinson, Regis, Buchanon, Futch, McGee, Armstrong, Telemaque, etc etc leave. Now we got another group of players being called out (some of which were recruited by Golden). Maybe it aint the players......
 
the guy was recruiting with ncaa sanctions around his neck. that aint fair. AQM will be a stud. i also hope kamalu can grown. both came in last minute so they havent had a full off-season. if the dl recruits sign that are committed. no excuses.

How anyone could defend Dorito or his squads the last couple years needs to be checked into the DBC mental facility
