Putting aside the fact that CFB media seems to have its blinders on to how different they look, them losing Love and Pryce seems to have been a bigger hit than most thought.



They looked average against MSU last night. Would’ve been a 27-17 game if not for a dropped TD by MSU. Also, ND offense lacks push or explosiveness, and their D isn’t what they were last year.
 
Fully agree about their offense lacking explosivity and difference-makers. They flat out are not running the ball well, and that’s foreboding for the few occasions they have to play better teams (us, BYU, SMU, playoffs).

Not sure I agree on their defense though. They’re allowing less than 2 ypc , and their secondary is very active and sticky in man coverage. Their DL might lack any big standouts but they’re stout and assert themselves in second half’s, which is typical for them under Freeman. We’ll see how they fare against Purdue who seems to actually have a plucky offense this season and better QB than MSU.

Their skill is mid af. If we have XL and Jaboree back (I don’t expect OJ), then that **** is clamps. Tf is a Micah Gilbert, foh.
 
It’s seems that as usual with CFB, what was is not always what will be. We went to the Natty, people are expecting us to repeat. ND had a good team last year and got left out of the playoffs, but people expect them to challenge for the NC. Neither team is who they were, but all the hype is based on that, recruiting and portal additions. Now how teams handle and manage the changes is the key to success. Expectations is not reality. Exceeding one’s grasp to achieve or surpass those expectations or failing to do so is the reality.lets see who exceeds the hype.
 
I’ve been saying this since spring. They will have no run game vs us. In the cold when you need it, might I add. It’s either death by Fletcher or load the box, shadow Toney with Moore and a million cuts from Darian Mensah. See y’all there.
 
Looking at their schedule I can see them getting left out of the playoffs if they lose to a combination of BYU, us, SMU. Losing two out of those three will knock them out.

If they lose to BYU we have the chance to end their season.

With the new “ND rule” with respect to the playoff plus the *****ing campaign they did last year I kind of doubt they get left out at 10-2.

9-3 they’re out for sure

With that lame as **** cheating rule, any single loss by them should drop them out of top 15-20. Otherwise its absolute bs that they can easily climb back into top 12.
 
Yeah, the running game doesn't look great. It was better when they switched to Nolan James in the 2nd half and he finished with somewhere around 120, I think. Miami, BYU, and SMU will be good tests. I do think our D is pretty tough. Purdue will actually be an interesting test. Put up 36 on Wake and 38 on UCLA. I will be curious to see how good or not our pass rush and DBs are.

As of right now, we seem to lack explosiveness, but Denbrock's offenses always seem to get a lot better throughout the year, so we will see.
 
I bet their entire fanbase is hyperventilating about OL play and explaining to the coaches what to do so they can run the ball.
