What is the best Canes defense you have seen in your life? I haven't been alive to see great defenses in the 80s and 90s and was wondering what they compared like to this current defense.

The 1992 Orange Bowl is probably the most consequential defensive game.

TBH our current D plays a lot like that unit. Not quite as dominant, but scary MF back there. 2001 it was almost too easy for em.

91 was more stingy but 01 was crazy with turnovers

Yeah, 1991. Bermuda Triangle, Rusty & KP at DE’s. William’s and Mcneil in the secondary.

Defense gave up 100 points for the entire season including NC.

1991 is the best.

Randy Shannon was the GOAT defensive Coordinator. His run with great defenses was amazing. Heatherman is making his case to be the GOAT.

If Heatherman puts a few more seasons like he did this year, he will wear the crown.
