Hey CIS-

With another season approaching, I think it's time we get real about the game day experience at Hard Rock Stadium. As much as we all love the Canes, it's no secret that HRS doesn’t give off the energy or atmosphere that college football is known for—and it’s hurting the game day experience (IMO).

Between the long distance from campus, the sterile NFL vibe, and bum tailgating rules, it’s just not stacking up to what you see at schools like LSU, Michigan, or even FSU (ugh). The thing is—we’re not helpless. I am sure the AD wants fans in the stands and creating noise. So what if we put our heads together and came up with a list of practical, realistic ideas to help make things better this fall?

I'm planning to compile the best suggestions and send them to the AD or someone involved with stadium ops.

Here are a few prompts to get the conversation going:
  • How do we get more students to games? (None of them attend anymore, which is WILD)
  • What tailgating fixes are actually doable?
  • Can we get an on-site uber lot for those who didn't drive? (Currently have to walk to Walmart to catch an uber)
  • What makes other schools’ gamedays better—and how can we copy it?
  • What in-stadium improvements would help atmosphere and energy?
  • Is there a way to make parts of HRS feel more “ours” (banners, traditions, lighting, music)?
One example I was thinking was the seat color- because its teal, on TV it looks like 12 people showed up when we played Duke. Could just put green t-shirts over the seats for the fans to hide the seats and more match typical fan colors (or orange or white etc...)

Go Canes 🤙

Bring back the old school portable tunnel the players came through at the Orange bowl. Forget about the cheesy fire towers. Back in the day when the players were in the tunnel they’d start shaking it and when the crowd saw it we’d go berserk before the smoke even blew. It used to be any self-respecting fan would never miss the smoke, now it’s like whatever.

The pregame video montage right before the team runs out needs to be filled with all the classic plays in Canes history. They play a few of them, but not enough. Make the last clip the Ed Reed speech and after he says let’s go, blow the smoke.

Gabe what’s up bro? I’m down in Brazil on vacation reppin our school as I type this.

At times I feel the tailgate culture is not bad (obv lacking the traditional student body tail gate sections that other schools are famed for). But I feel like ever since the parking got all wonky after the tennis court and race track came in it has impacted this somewhat.

Others mentioned the bad DJ already.

I don’t know how to get more students to attend games. I’ve spoken to you in person about this before though. I remember when I was going there a fellow student asked me was the football stadium on campus? (This was less than 10 years ago). Puts into context how detached from sports fandom some students really are.

How bout people stop being nit-picky about what we don't have and appreciate what we do have.... Just go to the game and watch the team play....
preach brother. a stadium that hosts superbowls, national championships, and playoff games with one of the best tailgating you'll find needs no updates. most complaints about building a smaller stadium are from people who don't go to games and won't go to games even if the new stadium comes. (not saying original poster is a person that doesn't go to games)

Winning will fill the seats as it’s always done. That is where the energy lies.

There are positives to JRSHR. Access for PB County and Broward fans is easier than the OB was. Not that I didn’t love the OB.
Getting out after the game is a lot easier than some stadiums. I went to a 7pm Clemson game once and it took 4 hours to get out of the parking lot and on the highway.

Keep in mind there are only a few thousand kids living on campus. Having all resident students attend games barely fills the seats at HRS.

Moving the Marlins from that location has not helped attendance. It would not help Miami’s either. Sorry to break it to you.

Miami residents are not really sport fans. They are event fans.

Have a stronger home strength of schedule.

Everything else is academic.

Was just on a tour of the bowels (of the stadium) on Friday. They are doing a lot of renovation work on the luxury stuff.

Canes will end up at the Melreece location, which will curse the team forever.

I graduated in 2010, we could fill a full student section every game my 4 years, and would fill the upper deck too for big games. My first two years at school we were still in the OB. Student attendance has been downhill ever since from what I see.

Hype guy and DJ are 99% ree-ree.

About 10% DJ gets 4Q transition right with crowd rocking.
