QB - My bet is on Williams, unless Martell gets his waiver
3000+ yds passing
25+ TDs
Less than 10 INTS
300-500 rush yds (depends who starts. Martell could easily put up 500+)

RBs- I think Lingard and Cam Davis take over this year
Lingard 800+ yards 8+ TDs
Cam Davis 650+ yards 5+ TDs
Deejay 500+ rush yds, --- Want him to be used as more of a hybrid RB/WR and not solely RB. Would like to see him used in the pass game more, motions, slot WR, still wildcat from time to time.

WRs-
Jeff Thomas -- breakout 1000+ yd year. 8+ Tds. Need to see him all over the field. Jet sweeps, screens, deep routes etc. Couple punt return for TDs as well. This is his last year here, need to utilitize him as highly as possible
Need a 2nd WR to emerge. My bet is on Hightower or Osburn to take that #2 spot
Sleeper- Mark Pope

TE's -
Brevin Jordan - 700+ yds 5+ TDs
Mallory - 400+ yds 4+ TDs

Really hope we use Brevin Jordan a lot next year. He is a real weapon. Probably a 3 year guy if Enos utilizes him the right way. Seems he liked using a lot of 2 TE sets while he was at Arkansas

Decent td to fg ratio in the red zone.consistent 10+ play drives ending with points.5-1 td to int ratio.+ Turnover margin.3rd and short 90% or better conversion.3rd and long 45-55% conversion.

Excellent overview! But what about the D? What are your thoughts?

Get off on the right track to start every game (i.e. TDs and not 3 and out!)! K/Os in the end zone! A punting average > 42-43 yards/punt! More diversity in the play calling (keep the opponents D always guessing)! And a more consistent and effective OL! And also, let's not tail off at the end of the season, as we have done in the last two years; that's why a great strength and conditioning program is so critical.

I think defense will take a little step back, losing WILLIS will hurt more than we know. Dude was a monster. J-Jack too. Hill is a nice add in but I think our D-Line play won't be as dominant as last year. LBs I expect around the same / more improvement. Need a big year from Shaq and Pinq.

CB worries me. Outside of Bandy everyone is unproven. Losing M-Jack hurts. Hopefully Blades or Ivey steps up. I really like the potential of our Safety's but I think we will notice the loss of Jaquan as well.

I agree! Coach Baker and Coach Diaz will have their work cut out for them. I believe that the biggest problems will come from the inside DL, as I don't see stand outs. However, I do believe that our LBs and Strikers will have a stand out year, in order to hopefully make up for our short-comings in that area. We will definitely miss Gerald Willis II! He was a unquestionably a force.

Averages:

  1. OL: top 25 in no sacks allowed
  2. Top 40 in 3rd down conversion percentage
  3. Top 30 in red zone efficiency
  4. Top 30 in scoring offense
  5. Top 40 in total offense
  6. Top 25 in passing efficiency

Even with a slight defensive dropoff I would guess ten wins minimum with an improved offense like this.

I think the D will take a small step back, but although we lose a lot of veterans who produced on a high level, we're definitely not lacking in talent. Having a capable offense that stays on the field, giving the D a little rest will factor huge.

Really hoping Nesta balls out. We did not see much of him last year. But make no doubt, Willis was a grown man out there last year

Those are numbers the 1994 San Fran 49ers would have liked to have seen....

True, but every fan version tends to look like that.

Most hilarious of all were the annual Ryan Tannehill projections on Dolphin message boards. Nobody dominated the offseason like Ryan Tannehill. He may have been mediocre during fall but the spring and summer forecasts were Hall of Fame and beyond.

I'll stick to the basics. We averaged 6.1 yards per passing attempt last season, which is a laughable number and good for last in the ACC. Nothing good can happen in that range or anything close to it. From 2011-2016 we were always very good in that category, generally 8.0 and above with one season at 9.0. That isn't exactly the freakish 11.0+ area that Mayfield, Tua and Murray have managed recently, but still plenty sufficient for college football. I'll be cautious and hope we restore to at least the 7.5 level in 2019, which was basically where we were in the Rosier season of 2017.

Ideally I'd like to see 38-42 rushing attempts per game. Slightly lower than that is okay also, like the 36+ last season which was a step up from the low 30s range we'd occupied for many years prior. With a more varied and uptempo attack there should be plenty of opportunities for hurry-up-and-run the ball.

Defensively I expected a major fall off but now with some of the secondary acquisitions it might not be so bad. I would aspire to allowing 4.8 yards per play or lower, compared to 4.3 last season. After the season I projected we'd lose at least a half yard per play so anything inside that would be fine, especially if the pass defense can remain below 6.0 or thereabouts. We finished at 5.6 last season. That was excellent.

Stats:

  • 58-60% completion rate
  • At least 3-1 TD Int ratio

Strategy:

  • Simply distribute the ball consistently to our best athletes in space
  • Attack the defense & be multiple (keep the defense off balance)
  • Only give PT to players that consistently catch the ball (forget seniority; the best players get PT)

Major Keys to Success:

OL play. I'd really like to see them play tough, hard-nosed football with a mean streak. Our great lines were really cohesive units that did everything together and had tremendous respect for each other. We have to be able to consistently convert on 3rd & short and generate some serious "push"

QB play:

  • Simply distribute the ball accurately to our best playmakers
  • Go through progressions (instead of locking on to one target)
  • Make good decisions (throw the ball away or tuck it & run if the called play isn't there)
  • Avoid heaving the ball late down the middle
  • Be a true leader on & off the field (even if the QB is a Sophomore). Lead vocally & by example. Set the tone for the whole program
