This comparison is brutally accurate with what we went through this season. Richt has experience as a quarterbacks coach in an offensive play-caller. He's won some big games he's lost some games he should have won. He is what he is. Not good enough to win big.
This season we had the opportunity to give a greener quarterback experience and an opportunity to showcase his unproven skillset. Everyone, including the coaches and the players knew what we had in Malik. After he proved in the first couple of games to be the same guy it only made sense to let Kosi take the reigns and improve throughout the season since he is coming back. Malik was not good enough to win big.
The most damaging part about this year's quarterback catastrophe IMO is that Mark Richt didn't have a pulse on how much more the kids play for Kosi. Richt not only ruined our hopes of returning to the ACC Championship but he also lost a locker room with pulling Kosi in the Virginia game.
That same mindset is what carries us into this off-seasons and the possibility of hiring a new OC. I have no faith Richt will choose another "quarterback" to lead this team. He will choose to keep himself as the play caller and ruin another season instead of bringing in someone else who has the potential to make us a better offense. Someone else who is good enough to win big.
