A really important win for the program. Great to thoroughly defeat our biggest rival on national TV and a big stage. The team came close to showing its true potential today and demonstrated things many of us were hoping to see from the first game of the season onwards (a DL that wreaks havoc, a QB that is highly accurate & gets the ball to our best playmakers in space, and a defense that plays Miami ball).

Major props to:

1) The DL. Rousseau is a beast & proving yet again why we were all clamoring for him to start from the first game. If he continues working hard & developing physically, he's going to be even more of a load going forward. Has serious potential. Trevon Hill also made some really key plays & is showing why everyone was so excited to get him in the offseason. Really pleased for him that he is coming on strong & playing a major role. Garvin, Nesta, Ford & others also had stout games. Finally, we got to see the true potential of this group & how deflating it is for opponents when our DL wreaks havoc.

2) Jarren. We all knew he was accurate. What we saw today was leadership, fire & moxy combined with accuracy. Yes, he still held the ball too long a few times but he took a major step forward in this game. If he continues to grow in terms of the intangibles (and get decent protection by the OL), he can be really good for us. He started showing his true potential today. It was great to see. There is serious reason for optimism going forward (after seeing his performance in this game). An offense with Jarren, Lorenzo, Deejay, Brevin, Mallory (if he progresses), Wiggins, Pope & Harley should actually destroy opponents if the OL does its job. Today's performance gave recruits a glimpse of what this offense could be going forward. Hugely important for recruiting & the future of the program. The team needs to stick together & continue to grow. It could be very good next year & the year after, if that happens.

3) The LBers. By far their best game of the season. They were dialed in & shut Akers down. They were hitting hard & taking names. They had underperformed so far this season. They were stout today.

4) Deejay. He may not have elite top end speed but he's clearly the heart & soul of the offense & does make huge plays in key spots. One of my favorite players on the team because he is all heart.

5) Osborn. What an important addition to the team he was in the offseason. Really a shame we only have him for one year. Great leader. Plays with passion. Made some key plays for us.

6) Wiggins. Has really progressed. Thrilled for him. Great to see. Becoming a serious weapon for us. FSU didn't have an answer for his speed & neither will others. Hope he continues to develop.

7) Knowles. He's taken a lot of heat on these boards. He deserves our respect & appreciation at this point. A true Cane. He's stuck it out, worked hard & has become very dependable. He made a couple really nice plays today. It's time to show him some love & quit knocking him on here. He deserves some respect.

8) Price. He made two FGs straight down the middle of the pipes. It was a big stage for him & he did his job. Sure he missed one but he looked way more solid than the alternative. Major props to him.

9) Brevin. Continues to be a balla for us.

10) The OL & RBs (especially Deejay). They have progressed & gave Jarren time to get the ball downfield. They looked far more cohesive than they did previously. Deejay was awesome taking on rushers. It was great to see. We destroyed their OL. Our OL held up (with a few inevitable breakdowns). It was a solid performance. This offense will only perform if the OL performs. They did their job today.

There is talent on this team. If they work hard & stay energized, they can finish on a run with a respectable record (including a decent bowl win) which would be huge for recruiting. This will be a big key to the success or failure of the Manny Diaz era. Finish strong, make recruiting a huge point of emphasis and we could start climbing back. We took a great step today. Go Canes!

i think at some point we have to stop talking about deejays speed, he never gets caught from behind and he looks faster than cam on the 44 yard catch
