Few thoughts:

We had receivers running open the entire game, it might be tough to see it at the game but they were running free. I think as Perry gains experience he'll start noticing a lot more. Will also help if the OLine can give him a tad more time. Richt is making correct playcalls which is why I don't get how people can say he's not creative. Receivers are running all over the field. I think once the Oline is shored up and Perry just gets more games under his belt this offense will be ridiculous.

Fans in my section were calling for Rosier down 27-7. The stadium was quiet then turned into massive boos after the punt return TD and then the 3 straight runs.

This leads to the turnover chain being the greatest prop in the history of NCAA. Once Redwine made that hit and the chain came out the crowd was LIT up the rest of the game, from then on you could tell FSU would start feeling pressure.

I also liked how ****ed off Willis was getting the chain, showed alot about his character and passion knowing the defense may have let the team down a tad the 1st half.

On richt I understood why he was forcing the run, they had to stay on the field. Perry was a bit rattled and we just had to keep our own defense off the field to keep them a tad fresh and it seemed to work.

The ol getting whipped and Richt not using the inside blitzes against them caused Kosi to get the yips. They were giving us bubbles all day , they were out numbered a lot today.

FSU lined up blitzed the a/b gaps majority of the night. Total disrespect as a play caller.

He didn’t help Kosi at all.

We’re way behind schematically, Richt needs help.

So far behind. And it isn’t changing unless he gives up the play calling. He is what he is, he is stuck in his ways and it isn’t changing.

I used to make jokes about us throwing WR screens to Dayall Harris all the time but today’s game was perfect for bubble screens and halfback screens.

Thank you. FSU literally had fish in a barrel.

Blitzing is the middle , outnumbering us and still leaving slots open and giving cushions.

I don’t get Richt man.

Interesting - I am not doubting you, but in the game day thread, someone claiming to be at the game posted WRs were not getting open.

Either way it was clear that Perry was rattled for a good portion of the game.

Thanks for the info for those of us that were not able to be at the game.

Richt could have made things much easier on Perry.

Slants, bubbles, waggles, screens, etc. these are all part of our playbook, but go missing for god knows why.

FSU’s DBs are a joke. Our WRs were killing them.

I really don’t get what Richt was going for here. BT and Louisville ate up FSU’s defense by beating them on the edges. We hardly tried. Our weakness on O is our guards. FSU’s strength is their interior DL. And we kept running right into them.

Easily the worst game he’s had as a play caller here and borderline bizarre.

In the Game Day thread a couple of Canes at the game kept posting about no one getting open much. From TV it was hard to tell. This is first I heard there were apparently numerous missed reads and open receivers. It would be nice to know if Richt called so many runs (especially on first down) due to lack of confidence in NP, give defense more rest, lack of imagination, or due to receivers not getting open enough. I suspect he is just conservative, but those 4th down calls gave me pause, so maybe it's not that.

There were *some* open WRs. I would not say there were WRs "running open the entire game." I mostly watch DB coverages and WR route combinations. And, I sit in an endzone. I saw an unnecessary amount of outbreaking routes and a lack of combination routes. Again. But, whatever. Talk about that another day.

If we call these magic plays you speak of but our young QB still doesn’t see the open WR then what will you say?

Understood
And I didn’t “speak of any magic plays” but okay. I was at the game and I’m well aware their were guys running open, I saw it too. But if you don’t think the play calling and predictability is an issue then it’s no point for me to continue the conversation.

And the fact that there is open guys that 5 isn’t seeing, well that’s a completely different conversation. Whose job is it to teach him that? Yeah, I won’t even open that Pandora’s box. We won the game and I’m very happy so I’m not trying to argue and start **** but man we have MAJOR issues on that side of the ball. And one of them is play calling. If you disagree then you disagree, whatever. Like I said, I ain’t here to argue and put words in your mouth like you did me, you got it. I’m done talking about it. Enjoy the W sir.

I always thought this was largely a function of natural instinct and maybe height or vision excellence. Can this really be taught?

Will not pick on Perry since this was his first big game and he should have had 5 TD passes. Richt could have called a better game as well. But Perry continues to miss the check down to the RB in the right flat. It was open on the UNC interception last week and it was open on a few key downs last night as well. He will learn tho, not worried about him.

I posted it in the gameday thread. From the 1st quarter it was there for the take. I was literally shock of how bad a game Richtw as calling. Your qb is a little rattled..give him the bubble to get some confidence going..especially considering fsu has shrimps that cant tackle in the back 7

This is what made me soooo angry. All year FSU has had problems setting the edge with their dends. (their fans were actually worried about this) Both of them...and their lbs arent as athletic in the middle as normal. But their HUGE at dt and our guards are small and week. He wanted to establish the run but he really did Dallas and Homer a disservice. It was actually getting easy for FSU, especially considering we run on 1st downn 99.9% of the time.

it was comical

any faith I had in mark richt getting it done at the elite level is gone after that

1st down is an automatic run

He is pretty predictable on 4th down calls also, but thank the heavens he calls them.

Makes too much sense. Instead we played to their strength, smh.

I was unhappy too, but hitting the QBs hard and often is historic FSU tactic against us. Bowden even said it was worth a couple late hit penalties to do it. By the end of the game, that skinny kid handled it well and for the second week we held the ball on a time eating last drive to end the game. Been a while since we seen that.
