What happened to Hedley? I thought that he had the punter position locked up?

Yeah that one was odd... I thought he played well for them last year, I had to look at NOLA roster and they signed Matt Hayball, a rookie from Vandy in April and guess he won the job. Maybe the aussie style kick was becoming an issue?

I read somewhere they wanted Hedley to go away from that style and focus on distance and hang time. He did pretty good pinning teams last year but I think distance was an issue.

I thought the style worked great. I dont think all punters could do it because they are robots who 1. catch ball; 2. take one step; 3. kick ball.

Lou coming from rugby was used to kicking on the run and under duress. I loved when Lou would realize there was no rush and he would hold it for it seemed like 2-3 seconds. Hangtime is not nearly as important when he is back there just chilling with the ball and everyone is already downfield. Also running to the left or right so there was no need to "angle" the kick, he was basically kicking **** near on the numbers.

I thought it would catch on more than it has, seems like a good way to make the return team decide to go after the ball or play the return as long as you have the punter who is comfortable doing it.

This list is from 2023 but point is we went from the most players in the NFL not too long ago to #21 and probably lower in 2024

  1. Alabama: 57 players
  2. Georgia: 49 players
  3. Ohio State: 48 players
  4. LSU: 43 players
  5. Michigan: 38 players
  6. Clemson: 37 players
  7. Penn State: 34 players
  8. Notre Dame: 34 players
  9. Florida: 35 players
  10. Oklahoma: 32 players
  11. Texas: 30 players
  12. Iowa: 29 players
  13. Auburn: 28 players
  14. Southern California: 26 players
  15. Oregon: 25 players
  16. Stanford: 25 players
  17. Washington: 25 players
  18. Mississippi: 24 players
  19. Texas A&M: 23 players
  20. Wisconsin: 23 players
  21. Miami (Fla.): 22 players
  22. UCLA: 22 players
  23. Tennessee: 21 players
  24. TCU: 21 players
  25. South Carolina: 20 players

As much as I like to see who got cut, I prefer who made the roster.

By process of elimination looks like Taylor, Williams, Kichens, Lee, Cohen all made it. Any other late draft picks/undrafted?
