It should have never gotten to the point of hoping Duke and GT lose.
Duke and GT are a combined 16-3. I know a lot of "fans" on here like to act like Duke and GT are absolutely terrible teams and Miami should be 14-0 ever year, but let's be real. Duke and GT play smart football and don't make the mistakes that cost them games too often. They are disciplined and well rounded.
Miami with that same amount of discipline is a better team because Miami has more talent. At the same time, Miami started the year out with a true freshman QB who was a turnover machine and the defense was not playing disciplined at all and looked awful. Miami has since started to play assignment football on defense and Kaaya has grown a lot in a true freshman year. Had they played this way all year, they very well could be 9-0 right now. The fact of the matter is that they didn't play this way all season. Get upset if you want, it is annoying. However, I am glad to see the team playing the way they are. I have not seen a team play this smart and efficient on both sides of the ball in a long long time. They never have under Golden until recently. They never did under Shannon, and they definitely did not at the end of Coker's tenure. This team is literally playing the best it has all around in over a decade. Why? Because the players are playing smart, playing assignment football, and the coaches have also learned a thing or two.
If the trend continues the 15th, you have to be excited for the future. If everything reverts back to how it was, then I will lose all faith in Golden's ability to lead this team. Right now I have faith because I have analyzed the games enough to see that it isn't just a talent disparity causing these lopsided scores. It's also discipline and smart football which has been lacking for 12 years now in this program.
You don't sit your starters in the 3rd quarter when up 41-13, 30-0, and 37-6 in 3 straight games because of just a difference in talent. Not at this level. That is a clear sign of discipline and trusting the system and the coaches trusting the players more as well. I mean the defense literally shutout UNC and held them to under 100 yards of offense before mass subs started to take place. Why? Because 1) Golden and D'Ono are trusting the players to play a little more aggressive, and 2) the players are not freelancing and looking like idiots(Nebraska and GT).
