Indiana won this game for three reasons: 1) coaching; 2) execution; and 3) they were far fresher.
Not winning the ACC (and missing the gift of a charmin soft championship game followed by a long break to get healthy) and then having to run the gauntlet we did was almost impossible. The physical toll - especially the way we play - of three dogfights is real tough to overcome.
Our guys are absolute dawgs but we were a **** mash unit by the end of the game.
Mario’s career has been one of consistent improvement. I believe that will continue.
The path to a championship is almost always soundly beating the teams you should beat. For lots of reasons. We didn’t do that season and it took a toll over time.
You give cignetti our roster and people would legit be calling it the best team of all time.
I hope and trust a Mario’s evolution will continue. Cignetti might have made it easier for Mario because the model (aggression & execution) was right there in front of him tonight.
We know the talent will continue to be stacked in Miami.
As long as the financial support continues to be there, we’re at the precipice of a decade of dominance because Mario wants in more than anything and he’s relentless and smart enough to make it happen.
