They weren't painted to be criminals, they were criminals.Google Alton Sterlings criminal record. It's impressive.Had both done what they were asked to do they would both still be alive today. How hard is it to follow simple instructions???They choose poorly, the situation escalated quickly, and they paid the price.100% THEIR FAULT."Freeze" means to stop moving completely....who doesn't understand that? It's not that difficult.Quit making excuses.Mark Walton is a perfect example of how to handle a bad situation. The charges were false but he didn't take matters into his own hands. He trusted the process and the truth came out.
Having video evidence, while not being the end all, certainly allows for a
more objective analysis of a situation. Criminal record aside, from the snippet that we are privy to, it appears that several less than lethal options were available (based on the standard that should be applied to police officers). We can also separate out the police officers' potentially criminal behavior from their gross malfeasance. Your plain vanilla view of the complexities of a system that are run by 9 to 5 bureaucrats does not adequately factor in libel/slander, false arrest/false imprisonment, bodily injury, or even death.
Administrative leave, suspension without pay, etc. isn't enough. Bring suit and make sure bad cops that are determined as such never wear a badge again.
