New offensive analyst Max Drisko

One of the differences I noted between when Lashlee came over as OC and Gattis was Lashlee brought in some of guys as offensive analysts to help him implement his system, etc. I don't remember Gattis bringing a single person over. Not defending Gattis at all but hard to implement your offensive system when you didn't hire a single coach on offense or bring in any analysts. Hopefully a couple more from the Dawson tree get employed here.

Great point.... but that raises the question, did Gattis have anyone that would want to come with him? That should've been a tell-tale point if any.

He brought one GA from Mich, Nate Crutchfield. Worked with QBs

"Nate Crutchfield, who spent the last three seasons at Michigan as a recruiting coordinator and graduate assistant, is working with the quarterbacks..."

So is that on Mario or Gattis? You would think if Gattis was anywhere near competent he would have asked as part of his negotiations to bring some of his own analysts at the very least. Maybe that right there should have been a big red flag to Mario.

Another angle might be that w/ his rumored inflated ego, perhaps he thought he didn't need help.
Gattis:

Because no one likes Gattis lol Was definitely a red flag

Hoping that this is a case of better the Jimmy and Joes, the better the OFF.

His offensive coordinator stints at lower level college football don't impress me but it can't be ignored that he has a previous working relationship with Dawson, which is obviously a positive.

He’s being hired as an Analyst...

Can’t hurt. But I’m more of a strong believer in the “one voice” old school method. I realize today everything is analytic In sports. Maybe sometimes too analytical. Whatever it takes. Go Canes

Whenever I hear "Sports are too analytical" takes, I can't help but laugh. We get it, some older people think this fancy math stuff is confusing, but there's a reason why it's being used.

When you're coaching up about 100 kids, you're going to need more than "one voice." What matters is that those voices are all communicating the same message. What matters is not having one voice, but having one message.

The hilarious thing is that analytics have been around for decades
They've taken a huge step forward in the last 15-20 years though. The ability to track almost anything to microscopic precision is a huge reason why. Where in previous decades, you had to have a person sit there and track certain things, and then plug in the numbers, a lot of it can be done via tech now, meaning you can get deeper and deeper with stuff. Look at a shot chart from 20 years ago and compare it to now. It's scary how accurate it is, and they can get even more detailed with it, showing that a guy shoots different percentages from practically the same spot depending on shot clock.
