He was third on their depth chart. I don’t know why anyone thought he was going to play against us. They don’t want a quarterback who can’t run.

Good domer friend said he thought before spring they would start him for first couple games with brutal schedule to open and then transition (not how @JG13 transitioned) to one of the younger guys. Guess he got outperformed in spring to the point where it was more than obvious he was not in the top 2 guys

Should we consider signing him purely for intel?

The problem with your Logic is Carr has Taken 0 snaps 🫰 in College,& the Guy behind does as a Redshirt Sophomore Has stats.
*Do a little research 🧐 next time?
The redshirt sophmore, you mean Minchey? If so, you are correct, he has a total of 16 yards on 3 attempts. So, the argument was that they don't have an experienced QB behind Carr is still correct hot shot.

The fact that he's had 0 college snaps is why I said they'd better hope he can step up. Angeli had real college experience, but the guy now behind Carr, Minchey, has 3 college passing attempts, only one of which was last season. If you call that experienced, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.
