The committment of Cody Brown last night had me thinking about the staff and the recruting success we have had recently.
I started thinking more about the backgrounds of our coaches and there are so many guys on the staff from SFL. I'm an anti hire a guy because he went to UM, but I like how Diaz has built a staff of native SFL guys. It is a nice change of pace from the Golden years when it was all Penn/NJ people. Even under Richt, we had guys from all over the country who did not really have the on the ground connections down here. Ie. Thomas Brown, Coach Kuul. Under Richt, we only had Diaz and Rumph (please do not turn this into a Rumph bashing thread again) as guys who were from SFL.
Diaz - Born and raised in the Miami area
Field - West Palm Beach Native who is as connected as it gets and has coached at multiple high schools in Florida
Hickson - Fort Lauderdale native
T-Rob - Miami Native
Aristide - Miami Native
DVD - Miami Native
Then our support/recruitng staffs are littered with people from the Miami area.
The point is I cannot remember a Miami staff that had this many guys on it who were from SFL. From the on field coaches, to support staff, and to the recruiting department.
