I can't be positive after that.
I like to keep it real and stay in the positive light. But something inside me died last night for this team. I watched in disgust.
No way anyone can. I still had a bit of faith left in Golden before last nights game. Because the talent is back up to par again and the cloud is gone.
But let me tell you. We are underperforming tremendously. That it is just sickening.
Their is no more excuses, I am sorry.
The talent is back. We have legit talent again.
BUT
Our coaching, play calling and schemes is **** poor crapola. It is holding this team back, and some of the personnel decisions leads me to believe staff can't evaluate properly either.
Let me start off with.
OFFENSE: Coach Coley's play calling and the O-Lines **** performance killed Kaaya last night. I saw some promise in the kid even for a true freshman, but they did not help him at all!!! Coach Coleys play calling especially in the run and pass game killed Duke and our Receivers last night. I felt it from the beginning. We could have won last night if they weren't running this silly gimmick **** they were last night. I felt Patrick Nix was calling the plays. It was rinse and repeat every 4 downs. We had a screen or reverse, slow developing run play, or when we could call something correct our line couldn't create a hole for Duke or hold the line for Kaaya. I chalk up the loss on Coach Coley and especially on Coach Golden for allowing this ****.
I know how the line played but, the play calling on offense was what did us in last night. Last night was a winnable game. Staff played not to lose.
QB: Kaaya looked nice early on. Got rattled as time went on through the game. Feel our play calling hurt him more than anything and the o-line played a big part too. I expect for him to improve as the season continues.
RB: Duke is a STUD, no matter what. Plays with his heart and had over 100 all purpose yards with no line help. He did it all by himself. He was getting killed running into 8-9 defenders every time. If Dukes smart, he leaves after this year cause he's gonna take a lot of toll on his body this year. Best stiff arm I've seen in a while. Duke will have a big year as long as he stays healthy.
Gus, I'm sorry. Im done with Gus. Move him to FB, move him somewhere he can be effective. He's a big bodied back who should bruise through for yards but runs way too upright, doesn't lower the shoulder and falls back instead of forwards. Gus doesn't have it for RB, and if the RBs stick and come through from the 2015 and 2016 classes. He's gonna fall down big time on the depth chart. Move the guy somewhere he can be effective.
Tucker showed some things but has to improve a little. Could be a weapon at fullback. Think he should take Gus carries at RB.
Yearby, we did not give him enough time out there. I was disappointed with the little playing time he got. He should be getting the carries Gus gets.
WR: Coley is a stud regardless, but last night was just not pretty for him, I expect him to bounce back.
Dorsett has great speed, we need to find ways to get him the ball more, Kaaya missed him when he was wide open.
Lewis, they didn't give him opportunities. Waters is very nice, staff ****ed up on his playing time, he came in first drive, they took him away till the end of game. Made no sense.
Berrios, looks like he could be a very reliable guy for Kaaya for some years to come. See a connection between the two.
TE: Walford is the MAN, needs way more opoortunites. Dobard wasn't given enough opportunities, Kaaya missed him for a TD.
OL: Terrible. Just terrible. We need to fix this asap, this was the 2nd biggest problem behind the play calling.
Defense: I saw some improvements and promising things. Saw some bad too. We'll know more as season goes along. We need to cover the middle of field better though.
DE: Chick looked nice and healthy out there, hope he puts it together this year. McCord played very good besides the scheme ******* him over t have to cover receivers. Harris didn't see him a lot but he didn't get a lot of snaps. Chad didn't get a lot of snaps that ****ed me off. WTF is staff doing to AQM?
DT: Heurtolou and Pierre looked nice. Jenkins did miss a tackle but you can see the potential in him, bright future for him. Kamalu looked good.
LB: Denzel is a STUD. Armbrister has improved but we'll see as season goes. Kirby is mehh so far. I really like Grace. Owens and Young need way more snaps. Inside coverage was bad though.
CB: Good play by them besides the stupid scheme of sending them 10-15 yards back. Tackling was meh, but good coverage on the outside. Staff is ******* up Howard, wtf are they doing, play him more, you kiddin me? Gunter didn't see a lot. Burns and Corn improved. Still early here.
S: Deon I saw good from him besides that one very bad blown coverage. Dallas looked bad IMO, hope he bounces back but I'm on the train right now of give me Deon and Jamal as starters. Was very disappointed in Dallas. Carter needs more snaps. Fentress has no business being on defense, should be special teams. Where was Gayot?
Overall. I really think we lost because of the bad play calling and bad o-line play. This was a very winnable game that this staff and o-line ****ed up.
My problem. We have the talent for sure. Staff is underperforming with the talent. I hope for a turnaround. IMO, less than 9 wins is a disappointment.
Right now I'm against Golden. I used to be for him. He really needs to get this staffs **** together.
The talent is back, Coaching is not there. Rant over.
