I have been making notes since the UAB game and I guess I'll go ahead and post the first quarter from the fsu game. I'm by no means trying to bite off @Lance Roffers, and reached out to him before posting to make sure I am not stepping on any toes. I was just going to post the txt until I realized nobody will probably read them without screenshots.

14:11-Brevin and Williams doubles Wilson on the edge. If one of the two comes off Wilson and climbs to McRae, Cam makes a house call

13:52-We chip Wilson with Brevin before he releases into the flat, Cam does a good job of picking Wilson up after the chip. King misses Pope. He throw the ball to much on a rope. If he puts a little air on the ball, he hits Pope in stride.

13:08-3rd and 9. Cam does a good job of coming across the formation to pick up a blitzing Renardo Green. King drops a perfect pass right behind McRae to Pope.

12:50-We line up in a Trips Bunch way outside of the numbers, almost to the sidelines. This combined with the pace has fsu confused as they are scrambling to get lined up before the snap. Our route combo is Hitch/Go/Seem. Fsu has 3 defenders over the trips, but Mcrae drops to the flats, the corner takes the hitch, and Jay runs with Harley (#3 WR, seem route), leaving Brevin (#2, go route) wide open. Again, King puts the ball to much on a rope and not enough air under it to let Brevin run under the ball.

12:04-3rd and 12. We run a nice Reverse Rollout PA design to get Knighten the ball slipping out of the backfield into the flats. I would think that this play was called with the intentions to get enough yards to go for it on 4th. Knighten picks up 9. Would could have got called for blocking down field because Mallory was blocking a LB about 4-5 yards downfield as King was rolling out.

11:32-4th and 3. Harley (slot) runs the ugliest quick out Route and gets caught up on Redding (outside WR) who had an inside release and was getting jammed by Samuel Jr. Luckly Emmett Rice (lined up inside shoulder of harley, but 6 yards off the LOS) is slow af and has no insticts. At the snap he just shuffles his feet and doesnt break on the ball until the ball is almost in Harley's hands.

11:15-Outside Zone Right playcall. Lovett disrupts the play as Scafie is not able to cut him off. Knighten has to use his vision and cut it back once he sees Lovett has cut his angle to the outside off. If he does, its a big gain. Knighten tries to bounce it out and around Lovett. Once he does try to cut back, its to late becasue the D has rallied already.

9:59-3rd and 5. fsu in a 3-3-5, 2-shell (split saftey) defense and only rushed 3. Woodbey lines up as the 3rd saftey in the middle but at the snap drops down into the hook zone. Cover 2 so at the snap Green (saftey) opens up to help with Wiggins (go route), Warner (middle Lb) gets no depth on his drop, and Brevin is wide open in the deep middle. We run a Post-Corner route on the other side to hold the other saftey.

9:53-fsu first play. Its was obvious against GT, and is obvious now that whenever #13 is in the game, they will give it to him to run, some kind of trickery or quick screen. Defense does a good job of identifying Travis and communicating it. #58 whiffs so badly on Phillips that it helps fsu out because he gets to far upfield and doesn't have time to catch Travis on the jet sweep.

9:35-fsu starts the BS. Mcdonald trying to manhandle Ivey after the whistle, and Wilson puts a knee in Boldens face as they get up.

9:20-Travis is subbed in. Shovel Pass to Travis.
8:05-We are beat by alignment before the ball is snapped. Since we only haave a SAM and MIKE, fsu lines its TEs to the right so that we declare that the strong side and our LBs shifted that way, and go twins to the left to get our striker on that side. Smith (striker) is splitting the difference between the #2 WR and the OT, so all fsu does is send the #2 to cut off Smith and that leaves nobody their because Ivey is bailing. Carter comes down to lower the boom.

7:14-We don't show blitz but Smith kind of gives it away by turning around and telling Carter to cover their TE lined up in the slot. A good QB would have picked up on that and called a hot route. fsu only sends 3 receivers out but they are all deep routes and Smith puts Blackman on the ground as he releases the ball. Blades jammed his WR into the sidelines.

7:06-Travis is in the game. You guessed it. QB keeper. Miller gets washed and that opens a hole. Carter lowers the boom.

6:28-Travis is still in. QB keeper. fsu uses the same formation as before when we were beat by alignment before the ball is snapped. TE to the right to get our SAM on that side, twins to the left to get our Striker to the left. This time they send the RB into the flats to hold Gil (Striker), cut Brooks (Mike) off with their LT, and seal Harvey off with the TE with a split block.

6:06-Travis still in the game. QB keeper. They try to seal off Harvey again with a split block. This time Harvey makes Mcdonald whiff and crashes Travis. Bolden came screaming off the edge too.

5:15-Travis back in the game. Was going to be a QB option (of course) but a false start makes them kick a FG.

5:05-Jet sweep to the field side. Refreshing to see. Wilson does a good job of hustling down field to make the tackle.
4:48-Last play ends at 5:01, we snap the ball at 4:48. 13 seconds in between plays. PACE!!!!! I'm starting to not like these Read Option Dives. They didn't work against Louisville either. It doesn't work when the read key is aggressive. He can then play both the RB and QB.

4:06-3rd and 4. Harley runs a slant and does a good job off finding space behind Mcrae (OLB) playing zone. Mcrae jumps to the outside and as soon as he does that, King fires the ball inside of him to Harley.

3:46-More miscommunication between King and Pope. King throws it deep, Pope runs a Hitch.
3:40-QB keeper playaction. Scafie completely whiffs on a blitzing LB but King makes him miss and picks up 11 yrds. ESPN is getting smart by showing replays in PIP. Last game we were missing the start of the snap while they showed replays.

3:04-Wiggins had Samuel Jr. stacked. He would have had a good chance to come down with the ball if their feet didn't get tangled. I agree with the no call for PI.

2:57-3rd and 5. Redding did a good job of selling the go route. Dent (CB) hips were turned towards the endzone before Redding settled down for the hitch and the ball was coming as soon as he turned around. Perfect pitch and catch. POS Dent dove at Reddings knee.

2:31-Mallory does a good job of sitting down in open field as Woodbey was covering him but 10 yards off at the snap and immediately bailing. First of their many facemasks. Woodbey had no choice though because Mallory was going to blow by him.

2:02-Clark got caught trying to chase an LB down field who dropped into coverage. Pope also could have got called for blocking downfield because he started to block when King begin to scrambled. Our WRs need to be in sync with the QB. Harley should have made that catch. He is too frail.

1:54-Pope flinches and its two penalties in a row. We have to clean that up. It will kill drives against teams like Clemson.
1:54-Most of the time when fsu lines up in a 3 man front, they only rush 3, and drop everyone else back into a soft zone. Chaney runs a bubble out of the backfield with blockers in front of him. Would have had a chance to score if Nelson was more decisive down field blocking.

:25-Who runs a 3 man front on their 3 yard line especially without their best Dlineman lol? Shades of an Al Golden and Dorito defense.

Your last point about the three man front was something Manny mentioned on his show. It was a look that fspoo hadn't used before and something the Canes didn't practice for.

Just shows what a great job Lashlee has done preparing the offense and how well the guys, especially the o line and King
adapted to the look.

So in 2 of the 3 games teams have tried to run defenses that they’ve hardly ran trying to surprise us but we still throttle them.

They’ve either dared us to run or dared us to pass. But results have been the same.

4i tite type defenses are very popular for spread type defenses, makes it tough especially for inside zone run teams
