MUST READ! this is the the root of our problems

The root of the problem was when our AD hired Coker ... "bc the players wanted him" and THEN we did it again, we hired another coach with zero HC experience "bc the players wanted him and he was a Miami guy". These 2 guys put us in a position that very few coaches in the country wanted the Miami job when Al was hired. And then after Al was hired we had the threat of probation which always helps bring in great HC talent. Example - Bama goes on Probation and they had to hire Mike Shula - why, no one else wanted the Bama job.

The extension certainly was a stupid move but what drives me crazy is how many on this board continue to want to hire a "Miami guy" as our next HC - did that twice - did not work

"very few coaches in the country wanted the Miami job"

I don't believe that myth to be true at all.
It's just our adminstration being incapable of conducting a smart , thorough and complete coaching search.

I think the admin CAN and SHOULD do a better job than Al, Randy and Coker. But it is a pro town, no on campus stadium and not of support from Alumni or those that live in South Florida. Most top 20 programs had more fans show up for their Spring game than will come out for our Big games. And while Al hasnt helped - Miami has never really supported the Canes

There's the standard party line floated by the Dawn Baileys of the world and accepted as truth by the sheep.

How do you know who wanted the UM gig and who didn't? Maybe we couldn't hire Bill Belichick away from the Pats, but neither could anyone else.

We sure as **** could have hired a good young coach or a veteran from a lower level program looking to win big with the recruits he'd have access to here. We just didn't.

Or maybe the BOT is comprised of self important ******** who enjoy giving the finger to the alumni and fans.

This line is just as stupid as "Miami doesn't have the money"

Stop confusing the Miami you want us to be (and use to be) vs the Miami that we are --- could we have done better than AL - god yes
....... we hired 3 no names in Coker, randy and Al for a reason....... this is not a tier 1 job --- not even close
- I hate it but those are the facts

Reason being that our admin and BOT are clueless and careless. I also don't see anyone realistically asserting that we should have hired a Saban or a Meyer, so really, you are babbling about nothing.

Wait just a **** minute, so Shalala and co. get a pass for allegedly nobody wanting the UM job as result of the decisions that they made which took it to that level of undesirability in the first place? That's rich.

"Well my realtor just sold the mansion I was asking $10,000,000 for, for $240. No I'm not mad at all, I mean how could they be expected to sell it for the price I wanted when they torched the place two months ago and put out the fire with cat ****? Of course that was going to make it hard to move."

Are you kidding - this board had us talking to NFL head coaches and SEC coaches ........ not a tier one job
