is how he continues to state that he's not going to over scheme things,, Mentioned it again in Hurricane Hotline how Spring practice is going to be about learning the basic concepts and finding out who can win battles when the other side knows whats coming. This can't be overstated enough. IMO a major flaw of the last 2 regimes.

Also love how he said all jobs are open and the program would be better if someone could beat out Brad Kaaya. The country club looks like it may have closed at UM.

Coach speak. He knows full well no one is beating out Kaaya, even if someone DID outplay him in the spring, and fall. The team will be better if guys are competing for the 2 spot, but barring injury none of the other guys are going to be #1 until Kaaya leaves. Heck, I like the talent behind Kaaya, but if you say his job is on the line NO ONE will believe it. It then makes them question every other competition. Kaaya has won the starting job, period. No need in pretending otherwise to give guys false hope. They'll see through it anyway and then doubt your word on other competitions. Lots of comp for the #2 job, and that's a great thing.

if kaaya doesnt start converting 3rd downs and playing better in the second half we may be better off with rozier or someone else

The Kaaya part is coach speak, the first part is a major philosophical difference from his predecessor

That's why I tell those who want to cut half of our roster to wait till these kids prove themselves under real football coaches and systems. There will be surprise players that step up unexpectedly. Everybody starting out the same, having to earn their starting position or playing time. Kayaa probably the only one guarantees a starting spot.


These are all guys that can "SURPRISE":

* Henley has the speed at CB to surprise. Pompano kids gritty. So can Redwine.
* Gordiner and Perry at LB
* Knowles at SS
* Mahoney and Gauthier OL
* Chocolate RB
* Langham WR
 
Yep. Richt was big-time as the OC at FSU....

With him running the show on offense, I'm not terribly concerned at this point....

Agree with everyone saying the play calling will be light years ahead of what we saw with Coley. NO OFFENCE Coley ever ran could convert 3rd downs. He couldn't figure out what the D was giving, and where to attack. How could Kaaya audible to something that wasn't an option? He DID a few times, when a working option was available.. Most of the time there was nothing Kaaya could do but pray. Coley was terrible, and we'll see how terrible when this O starts rolling.

everyone is so quick to get their feelings hurt on here...

i agree about richt, this guy made an average talent like david green into an award winning record breaker, and same could be said with the undersized aaron murray,

richt is a qb guru, if kaaya cannot be developed under richt there is no hope for him as a qb
 
It is all about execution that is why Saban likes to play CMR...no deception it is just straight execution w/CMR. Up until last year w/Scotty he had not been in the O room for five years. As Bobo said CMR did not know many of the play names. He requires nfl qb mentality to operate his O leaving the qb to read the coverages to adjust at the line of scrimmage to get in the right plays...similar to Manning. Murray was always up bright and early Sunday am reviewing the game and planning for the next one...even after his very last game he admitted he got up Sunday am and reviewed his game...Murray, Greeny, Shockley and Stafford were all very bright academically and football wise. He was successful w/those qb's alone.

No question though, you had it right when you said BK needs to improve or someone else deserves a chance. You got negged for saying the truth because the truth hurts the sensitive types sometimes.

I don't have the exact quote but the OP said

I take that as a compliment to Kaaya saying he's pretty **** good.

**** Newbie, do you have no sunshine at all? You can't run around this board just throwing criticism at Kaaya all willy nilly like that. Deserved or not, keep the critiquing to yourself. We all have very sensitive vaginas around here, and when you speak ill of Kaaya it makes those vaginas feel like there's broken glass all up in there.

Some friendly advice.... Go start 2 or 3 threads about Tyler Byrd. You can throw As much shade as you like at Tyler. Hopefully you'll get all the hate out of your system after that. If not, start a few Al Golden threads. You can never have too many Al Golden threads... Am I right??

Perry is the only guy aside who imo will be anything on that list. Gray was overhyped coming in. he has a chance but i haven't seen it.
Henley has speed. if u think langham or knowles are beating out the fresh, you are crazy.

Hence the term surprise. :smile-new: I agree about Perry. With Gray, I don't think it was so much being overhyped and more a function of adapting to college football and being tasked with learning a new position. Gray's natural athleticism is what produced the hype. The letdown comes from the fact that fans have now realized that Choc wasn't just going to waltz in here and start reeling off highlight type plays. If Richt can find a specific role for him he just might start to make those types of plays.
