Pinckney has been ridiculed by fans and former players for his bad body since he gained weight following the 2016 season. He responded (as I respond) and cut a bunch of weight and became a bit of a weakling. That missed open field tackle early in the 3rd quarter was what I feared would happen. Anyone else miss the 2016 version of our starting linebackers?

Ovary-acting

Our starting LB's BALLED out of their FUQIN' mind during freshmen yr, then NannY Diaz took over as they all regressed under his coaching

It truly baffles me how as freshmen they hardly came out of the game but as sophomores & juniors they need to rotate.

I just don’t get it...maybe I missed the rotations their freshman year.

56 didn’t have a bad game.
55 was pretty much the same as he’s been throughout his career - just not an impact player at all.

56 was around the ball. Made a couple of plays and also missed a few tackles

55 didn't do a **** thing.

53 just needs to stay off the field period. Let 17 get his shot

Pinckney didn’t have a bad game yeah he missed 3 tackles which is out of character but what I don’t understand is why McCloud only got 29 snaps against an LSU team that wants to play a physical brand of football??

He obviously had enough gas left in the tank to be out there instead of Brandon Jennings on that 50 yard TD fiasco so why sub him out??

Then I remember Derrick Smith was lined up so far out of the play like a CB on the field side leaving really only one LBer (Jennings) left to play the middle??

Diaz’s scheme is another version of Dorito minus the patty cake Dline smh

McCloud needs to play another position bc There are times we still need his physicality on the field at the same time as Derrick Smith or Romeo Finley... as much as I talked **** about McCloud we can’t get away from him against physical teams.

They definitely rotated in their freshman year but right now it seems more noticeable for whatever reason

Who was the DC their freshmen year? Who was coaching LBs their freshmen year? They were improved last year. Take away the 50 yard run neither were on the field and LSU was 39 for 108. They are solid players. Nothing spectacular but solid players and athletes.

What ****es me off about Diaz is he wholesale subs and he does so way too much. If we were stacked everywhere then go for it. Just like on 4th and 1. He pulls Willis and Bethel for Tito and Ford and Tito jumps outside.

Because they had a slot receiver.

I don't see a problem with Pinkney, but I might see the opposite with our DEs, specifically Joe Jackson.

They totally transformed his body from that explosive freshman year to make him an every down guy, and it seems to me like he's lost a step. I rewatched the Wisconsin game a few days before LSU, and #63 just stonewalled Jackson all night long. Maybe he wasn't "stonewalled" vs LSU, but he certainly wasn't as productive as I thought he would be. (Personally, I thought Jackson had the best chance of taking the leap to become our next first round pick, over MJ, AR, Shaq.)

Garvin was quiet as well. Could be LSU's OL was better that advertised, coulda simply been a bad night. I just expected our bookends to be more disruptive.

I don;t mean to overreact, and it was only the first game. Just a thought I had that I figured I'd share.

**Sorry to threadjack**

56 had the worst game out of those 3

Why becuase he missed a couple of tackles?

Missed tackles or not dude was playing aggressive and attacking!

Can't say that about the other 2... non factors. I'm standing on what I said in my previous posts, 55 is so overrated.
