How are there no NCAA issues with Michigan holding spring practice at a FL high school? Do any Florida taxpayer dollars support ING academy, despite the fact that it's private??

It seems like a potential NCAA issue to basically give each player a free spring break to Florida, but not regular students. What's next free trips to Hawaii for USC and Oregon? Also seems like an unfair advantage to smaller schools from up North who can't afford these sorts of things.

Could this potentially take away from our advantage in local recruiting?

I started a thread about this a while back. The NCAA recently changed the rules to allow this to happen.

Go Canes

This was discussed ad nausem in a previous thread, you may waht to check it out (just search "IMG" or "Steve Walsh")

Potential NCAA issue? LOL, Jim Delaney bends Marky Mark and his Funky Bunch from Indy over whenever he is bored...

Needs to be a selling point on our recruits. They want to practice here in the spring, just practice here all year with the U.

As I mentioned in the other thread, it should NOT be allowed.
What's the point of having all of these NCAA rules prohibiting competitive advantages when
you can have schools encroaching on other school's properties?

I've seen this coming for awhile after watching the northern college baseball teams spend
extended period of time in Florida as if it was spring training for them.

But many of our local yokels here think it is not a big deal.

smh.

Wait until the ACC and SEC teams say f-this and start spending time in
Dade and Broward.

Now that's a really good twist on a bad thing. Very smart.

Nah, actually is not a very good twist at all because the ultimate message is to
the Florida talent is that they can come up north and not be far from home during
the year.
Folks are also forgetting the Dolphins' owner Ross' ties to Michigan.
So expect that school to have an occasional game at Sun Life.

Yes but you could also flip it as no matter how good of facilities they have they still want to come practice down here. They want what we have. Either way Jim Harbaugh in FL is a bad thing lol I personally think it should be against the rules.

WHat is going to happen is that we will 10-12 programs pulling the same stunt, sort of like what MLB does with spring training
in Florida and Arizona, but worse, because now you also have those P6 teams doing camps in our state and, as I noted, more games
in the state.
Basically, a feeder state to these other schools.
Sht p!sses me off thinking about it.

That's what I fear and expect. The longer they wait to make it a rule, the more I think it's headed to that.

based on some of the decisions these recruits make, it doesn't appear enough of them would even be smart or mature enough to understand that

Yeah they are going to look at it as hey I get to play in Michigan and get a free trip to Florida every year? Count me in

in defense baseball teams don't really have a choice. i live in maine. now im a canes fan but the maine baseball team wouldn't most years be able to play any games or practice at all if they didn't go to florida till may at earliest.

they would be at a huge competitive disadvantage if didn't go and train in florida. weather alone makes it impossible for maine or oregon or osu to start practice in january when florida teams do if they don't head to florida. baseball remember cancels games due to weather unlike football.

fsu moving their spring game to Orlando.
But some of our fellow fans don't see anything wrong....mentions something about "Junction Boys".
It won't be long before Fins' owner Ross hosts his alma-mater at Sun Life and wait until Ohio State
gets the same idea with so many of their alums who live in FLorida.
This is going to become another bowl for these big schools, never mind that they are already holding camps
in Florida.

LOL at "Junction Boys"....some really naive folks here.

Its a BS move.. Its their Spring Break.. don't think any other school would take away there week off to rest from school work and practice.. Guy is a piece of sht. Now every school is going to start canceling spring break? Plus they have to fly across the country.
