Renowned UM athletics counselor Greg Harden dies
Greg Harden, the renowned University of Michigan sports counselor who worked with thousands of student-athletes — notably, including Tom Brady — has died.

Greg Harden, whom I considered my mentor when it came to self-improvement and self-development has passed away after complications during heart surgery.
I noticed him when he mentioned Tom Bradys relentless competitveness and desire to learn and understand what took him to become as great as he was. Then I found out he worked with Michael Phelps and Desmond Howard, became amazed with him during a recorded TEDxTalk and later bought his book to understand who he was, where he came from and what lessons he wanted to teach.
This man has allowed me to understand and forgive myself and made me grow and develop as a human being and as a man. He was a wonderful, caring, extremely passionate person about life, about sports, about people. One of those behind-the-scenes characters that are hard to find, but do so much for others.
I was looking forward to learn more from him, to grow more and to understand even more. His death greatly affects and saddens me. I will start to read through this book - I've stopped counting how often I've read it - tonight before going to sleep and will forever remember and pass on the lessons that I received through him.
If there's ever anyone in here who'll need someone to talk to, but can't find anyone to speak about their problems or needs help - you can always hit up old Bender. But for now, I'll open a beer and remember someone who had a great impact on my life.
