Historic mistake. I get it. Worst thing I've ever experienced as a Hurricane fan. Done talking about it. Will never be done thinking about it. Moving on...

What's incredibly unfortunate about the end, and the offensive performance, was the defensive performance of the night. Ga Tech came in with a very productive passing offense and they were completely shut down. They had been averaging 467 ypg and 32 ppg. Possibly the best defensive performance of the season by Miami.

Drive 1: Punt 3 plays, 1 yard
Drive 2: Punt 3 plays, 6 yards
Drive 3: Punt 4 plays, 22 yards
Drive 4: INT 11 plays, 49 yards
Drive 5: Punt 3 plays, 3 yards

1st Half: Ga Tech had advanced the ball 81 yards in total, complete domination and shut out.

Drive 6: Punt 3 plays, -1 yard
Drive 7: TD 8 plays, 75 yards
Drive 8: TD 4 plays, 26 yards off INT
Drive 9: FG 4 plays, 6 yards off INT
Drive 10: INT 4 plays, 13 yards
Drive 11: Punt 3 plays, -5 yards
Drive 12: TD 4 plays, 74 yards

2nd Half: Up until you know, the thing happened, Ga Tech had advanced the ball 114 yards in the half. One offensive drive on their own that resulted in a TD. Two drives off turnovers that resulted in points but only totaled 32 yards combined. If you remove the last drive, that never should have happened, they would have ended up with 176 official yards. I don't know what else you could ask for from a defense.

It is a f***ing shame that this was wasted. But if these guys can somehow forgot about that game, which may take an absolute miracle, then they have something to build upon on defense.

Only way to approach it…I wanted to break everything in my house and didn't sleep all night. But gotta move forward.

This is why people who think the sky is falling are wrong. The defense absolutely shut down a decent offense. Legit only had 1 bad drive and then the last 2 plays.

This team is good.
Not to mention the several obvious holding that weren't called on some of those QB runs

I think they had under a 100 yards rushing and passing before the last 30 seconds

It's whether or not they can get past what happened. It could very possibly be that this breaks them. They're a good football team so I hope it doesn't.

As absolutely horrific as this was it doesn't change the realistic goals of the season. They still control their destiny to the ACCCG. They can still win 10+ games. A lot to overcome mentally though.

defense was great ...... except for the last 22 seconds .... dayyam
What happens when you play one way the entire game and then have to ask them to do something totally different.. like keep the ball in front blah blah blah. Should have just kept attacking them.

Also a mentality thing when they should have been walking into the locker room and had probably already checked out. Similar to 2002 NCG after the flag was thrown. It’s hard to re-calibrate

I think this was mentioned in the stats thread but they're top 10 in both total offense and total defense. I mean...they're good.

The people downplaying the significance of it are even more wrong.

It was a conference game that had a 99.99% win probability prior to blowing it. Something that has NEVER been done before ever in CFB, blowing a win probability that high.

You just backed yourself into a corner of having to win every game you play from here out to have a chance at an ACCCG. And the 6 of the 8 toughest conference opponents on your schedule are still to be played. That was one of 2 gimme’s on our conference slate.

Oh.. and Mario still hasn’t won a home conference game. 0-5. Ignoring so many clear signs of ineptitude. Good teams don’t lose to far inferior opponents. You lose to GT, as fluky as it was… guarantees there’s at least 3 more L’s to come imo.

If you watch that Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary on Netflix he talks about the first time he came to the United States and lost a competition. He said:

"I was so devastated lying in bed in the hotel room and I thought the world was coming to an end. I'm in a strange country, I cannot communicate here, I'm 1000's of miles away from home, and I just lost. I just disappointed everybody. So in my mind, the bodybuilding world would just go and say, "Schwarzenegger is not what we thought he is, so f*** him". I cried the whole night. The next day, I said ok, "You cried like a little baby, you a**hole. Now let's move on".

Like Josh - all reasonable, but...I think you're right.

Emotions aside.
Stickin to it, so bring the receipts when due:

Losses
UNC, Clemson, FSU, UL

Tossups
NCST and BC are GT type dogfights

Who knows?
UVA may put up a fight.

Original preseason call of 6-6, with a ceiling of 7-5 is back on the table for me.

Watching the game and thinking back on the season so far, I noticed:
Depleted OLine;
Mids run game coming in ACC play - see ATM as honest benchmark;
Defensive blueprint set for rest of opponents;

TVDud & his one read to the WR room of X AND his NFL throws into double & triple coverage;

[BGCOLOR=initial]Mario. [/BGCOLOR]

Good defense that can hold a great offense to good for MOST of a game. Realistically, we face 4 more...

Circling back to our offense just got hella exposed...

I think we get absolutely boat-raced by UNC and the wheels come off.
