Woof, that's pretty bad lol. I'm a software engineer for a power company, a sector that isn't exactly light years ahead in terms of web development, and a design like that would never have been approved without some plan in place for desktop views... It's not difficult to work with both in mind.

Not questioning you personally, Andrew, but are you sure of that? I was trying to navigate to hurricanesports.com pages, and it was redirecting me to miamihurricanes.com pages, and this was not on a mobile device, but on my laptop. Or maybe that IS what you're saying, that UM has intended this redirect, but hasn't really configured miamihurricanes.com to be used by laptops/desktops.

Also, there is a TON of content missing. So whatever they are doing, even if the "presentation" sucks, the content pages are just missing right now.

I haven't visited hurricanesports in a while but I saw all kinds of stories on the new platform, I am on a mobile device. I checked my account and it redirected me to the same piciloan or whatever it's called.

I was able to scroll down and easily see multiple stories across multiple sports from my desktop.

You can scroll and see more but when you go to the site you only see one. The Jimmy photo is also of poor quality due to it being enlarged. The navigation bar is too high and for some unknown reason, the temperature in Miami is displayed. Last, the submenu is also too tall.

No one gives a **** about having to scroll. Most of us are using laptops, it's literally one button movement. The temperature thing is weird, guess it's more to show off the fact that Miami weather is superior to most other places. Is this mobile friendly format a Miami thing? I got curious and pulled up Clemson's website.

Frankly, I'm not seeing the problem. I didn't really have a problem with the old site, it just needed to be freshened up and decluttered. The new site is functional, and while I could stand to see some minor improvements, it's a significant step up in regards to presentation. The typical fan isn't going to be sitting on their laptops accessing the site, you'd be amazed how few people consistently browse the net on a computer at this point. People are going more mobile heavy, and they aren't wasting resources on having two presentations.

I am aware of the distribution of devices used on the web and changes to UX over the last 20 years. Scrolling behavior is different on mobile devices compared to desktop devices. This just isn't an opinion, it's back by ad performance data as well. The new Miami site is great for mobile devices because it presents information vertically and mobile users tend to flip scroll on phones.

The desktop site doesn't fit with a website meant to provide stories and information. For starters, only one story is visible at a time, so if two events happen the same day then one would require scrolling to view. When clicking an image to visit an article one is met with another large image. It isn't about being mobile friendly or not, as another user stated, media queries allow websites to adjust based on resolution. The site looks clean and fresh, I just believe it needs to show more content.

When users visit our main page, our goal is to get them to the forums, which is why we show top threads and three articles (which are also threads). Users aren't required to be interested in only a singular thread to click. Now I know that MiamiHurricanes.com isn't a forum so I expect it to be different and maybe it will be in the future. right now it reminds me the FoxSports role out, which turned out to be a disaster.
