Miami vs USC

Taxslayer Bowl going with a Big Ten team is working against us. Larry Scott gonna have a tough sell getting teak hyped for ******* El Paso.

I know it's at least twice -- 1966 and 1968. Canes won a low scoring home game in '66. My dad swore he took me to that game but I was too young to remember.

By 1968 I knew what was going on. We played out there on a Saturday night. Game was not televised in Miami. Lots of hype -- O.J. Simpson vs. Ted Hendricks. Both seniors. I listened on the radio until the bitter end in the wee hours. Not much suspense. USC ground out a 28-3 victory.

The following week Sports Illustrated ran a lengthy article dissecting that game, using plenty of still action shots to analyze how USC took Hendricks out of the game or neutralized his strengths. Many Miami locals were offended by that article, saying it presented a slanted portrayal, that USC generally ran away from Hendricks.

I always wondered if Hendricks' bizarre slide in the draft was partially due to the unfair poor reviews of that game at the Coliseum.

Pinstripe, Taxslayer, thats what I'm looking at. If it ends up being EL Paso, then atleast let it be against USC

I thought Duke to NYC was basically a done deal
 
The game is better, but pathetic that Duke gets to spend Xmas in NYC and we are in El Paso. On the upside, I will be warm and have an extra $500. We'd get 15K in NY, and we'll have about 5K in Paso max.

I'm not too worried. Hopefully this is the last year we have to deal with these **** bowls for a long long time.
