One of Miami's top-ranked defensive players in the 2027 recruiting class has officially shut down his recruitment after committing to Miami five days ago.



The latest addition to the Hurricanes' recruiting class, Andre Hyppolite announced on his instagram that he has shut down his recruitment and is locking in on the Hurricanes.

According to the 247Sports Rankings, he is ranked as the nation's No. 10 safety in the 2027 class. 247 also list him as the No. 42 overall player and No. 15 player out of the Sunshine State.

With Andre shutting down his recruitment, this now marks the 19th Hurricanes' commit to shut down their recruitment.

I think camping and unofficials happen much earlier and more often… they’ve seen so many schools and what they offer before they even get
to their senior year there’s nothing left to see.

 

I figure like most everything else, the science of recruiting has changed the process — b/c everyone (teams & players and their agents) have so much more by way of information, instant feedback, and analytics now….

Though— all teams have to remain vigilant against one of “theirs” getting flipped- us included…. Harder to do in NIL age and late in the process, but if they buy in and shutdown recruiting that’s a great sign they stick.

These are big NIL contracts and the schools dishing out top dollar are trying to reclaim some power over these teenagers. It used to be just their commitment but now there is a commercial deal attached to it and it’s not unreasonable to have some basic terms of those deals. I wouldn’t want to be renovating 20-30 NIL contracts all the time any time one of my commits has a big game or a ratings bump or a new school comes calling. The old terms of commitment were maybe a little floppy for this new way of doing business.

There are probably a few kids a year that just aren’t gonna roll like that. But id say stick to your guns. This is a good system and I’d say the benefit of your class being locked down and building solidarity a full season in advance outweighs the risks of the system feeling too restrictive for some kid who wants to drag it out. Leave the door open then once you’re in you’re in. Or you’re out.
