Miami’s lone running back commit in the 2027 class made his way down to South Florida for his official visit with the Hurricanes.
Multi-sport athlete Ty Keys traveled down from Mississippi, eager to get back into football mode after his baseball season ended just short of a state championship for his Poplarville side.
The four-star running back was visibly excited when asked about the prospect of playing behind Miami’s offensive line and broke down his official visit with me for CanesInSight.
On his takeaways from this weekend:
“Oh man, it was amazing, man. I got to see the city, I made a lot of connections with all the players — we have a pretty good connection now. It's just the start of everything."
“Just getting to meet all my teammates, spend time with them, learn more about my coaches — everything was just smooth. I loved it.”
On his recruitment process:
“You'll see me in Miami come December.”
“Recruiting is over. This is my only OV, I'm just ready”
On his recruitment being shut down:
“It's a lot of relief, for sure, because, if you’re still trying to decide, it's so much pressure. Now it's just laid back and chill.
On the difference between Miami and his hometown (Poplarville, Miss.):
“Miami is so beautiful, I mean I have one red light at home. This is it right here.”
“[I connected with] Javian Mallory, he just showed how much of a brotherhood it is down here, we were all together.”
On QB Israel Abrams:
“He's amazing, very great personality, very great teammate — I'm just ready to play with him.”
On Miami’s offensive line development:
“It's amazing, man. My guy, Tyler [Ford], I know he's gonna lead the way when I'm right behind him. I've gotten a really good bond with Tyler, my other offensive lineman, we’re locked in for sure. We are just ready to get up here in December.”
On his relationship with the coaching staff:
"We talk almost like three times a week, we stay connected for sure.”
On getting back into football mode:
“I’m so ready.”
