Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff are building something special with the 2027 recruiting class, already landing a total of five five-star prospects. The Hurricanes are looking to add a sixth to the mix as they turn up the heat for one of the best defensive players in the country.

According to the latest CanesInSight Daily Podcast, DMoney stated that the Hurricanes are turning up the heat for DJ Jacobs, noting that he feels confident about where the Hurricanes currently stand in his recruitment:

"Speaking to sources directly connected. Miami is not only budgeted for DJ Jacobs to be that six five star. They are in communication with DJ Jacobs and they are completely locked in on adding him as that that six five star and there is momentum there," he added. "Now, if anyone tells you they know what DJ Jacobs is going to do, they are lying to you because DJ Jacobs, is hard to read. Everybody thought he was going to Miami the first time, ended up going famously to Ohio State in a way that, again, shocked the whole industry. They didn't know until really right before the commitment. No one knows what DJ Jacobs is going to do. There was some buzz that he might be going to to Tennessee because Rodney Garner, the defensive line coach for Tennessee Volunteers, coached his dad. So, that was part of the the story there. But from what I understand, Miami is right in the mix like they've been since the beginning. Miami has confidence that they can get this thing done."

He has been committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes since December 2025. When you have a chance to be coached by NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, it is hard to turn that down. The Hurricanes continue to make a strong push for him as he heads into his senior season at Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Roswell, Georgia. Last year, Jacobs was down to Coral Gables for a game-day visit to watch the game against Notre Dame and Florida. He was supposed to visit this summer, but he canceled at the last minute.

According to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings, he is currently viewed as a five-star prospect. He ranks as the nation's No. 3 overall player, No. 1 edge rusher, and No. 1 player out of the Peach State. This past season, the 6-foot-4, and 240-pound edge rusher led the Titans to an overall record of 7-5 and 2-2 in region play. He recorded a total of 102 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks.

Put the meth pipe down. Boogie is a DE through and through and elite one at that. He would be a tweener at DT and it would negate some of his strengths. His game is much much more than just power.

 

They are the greatest college football team to ever play and as a Miami Hurricane fan for over 40 years, they are my favorite team. But I don’t think that team or anything they did, plays a role in us getting any recruits now. In my opinion, what matters now is what Mario is doing with this team right now. 25 years ago was 25 years ago. again, it’s just my opinion..

It's not a bad opinion to have. And I'm not saying it would be relevant if we sucked now then no I don't think it would open too many doors for us. But when you talk about that coinciding with the fact we're one of the best teams in the country it's very relevant in my eyes but as you stated I will state the same it's my opinion I see a lot of kids enjoy an awful lot FaceTime with Ray with Warren God forbid with Ed with EJ etc etc etc. Any relevant name from our pasts is pretty good recruiting ships I'm not saying it outweighs anything going on now but they are good chips to have that you can throw into the fold. I know from experience and honestly plenty of y'all do too from things as simple as YouTube videos conversation with Ray Lewis a conversation with Ed Reed a conversation with Michael Irvin they make a difference cuz those dudes and they could sell you water in the middle of the ocean.

There’s 100% no harm in including those guys like you mentioned. It can only help IMO.

He can line up on the inside in situations like Bain did at times, but he's a power edge

You would 100% be right IF that team and those players weren't a polar opposite of what you're speaking on. It would be us living in the past and nostalgia as fan being the only thing relevant only if that team wasn't constantly talked about by all of national media and all of college football as the greatest team ever it is constantly discussed you can see it on a weekly basis all throughout a football season and quite often in offseason the fact there's Hall of famers on that team all pros all the first round picks whatever that's nostalgia that isn't anywhere near as relevant towards the kid now as the fact that team maintains its relevancy because it is always a talking points throughout media if it would have been like that LSU team that people say is in that conversation it would be very different because people don't really talk about that LSU team like that some people do but it's not a big talking point it's not constantly mentioned this old one team is constantly mentioned that would be my one disagreement and what you're saying.
