Among mid-major coaches, Jankovich said: “You have to look at the guy at Memphis [Justin Fuente] and Houston [Tom Herman]. Even though I’m not an Urban Meyer fan, he has done a great job.” Herman previously was Meyer’s offensive coordinator at Ohio State.

James holds former UM offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski in high regard, according to someone close to James, and it won’t be surprising if Chudzinski --- now the Indianapolis Colts’ associate head coach --- emerges as a serious candidate.

Among high-level Board of Trustee members, there is support internally for Chudzinski, Schiano and Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator and former Alabama coach Mike Shula. But this is James’ decision.
 
Shula, Cristobal, Chud, Rodriguez, Cal coach (runs Groh defense), etc. Those are some HORRIBLE candidates.
 
Would be an idiot to not reach out to Gundy and Patterson. I'd take them over anyone that has been mentioned including Butch.

5. Hire Butch.

By the way, to date, Butch is the only candidate to actually pass the Butch test.

Rule #1 - No loyalty to those with UM ties - this is the key - Sam was destroyed when hiring JJ and Dennis

Rule #2 - Ignore the fans - there is a reason they are fans and not coaches

Rule #3 - Ignore the players - Coker & Shannon
 
Reach out to Patterson and Gundy and Urban. Never hurts to make a **** phone call. If they all say no, move on to Herman and Fuente. If those two say no, call Butch and get it done.

No reason what so ever to not call Patterson Gundy and Urban though. I'd even call Missouri's coach.

I wish we could get Jankovich back for this hire. We need an AD like him.

Why do they think Mike Shula is good? Lol. I don't want chud because he is out of touch with recruiting.

I'd call Pinkel in a ******* heartbeat. I don't think it's as far fetched that he'd leave Mizzou for Miami as one might think, especially if the school really is willing to pony up the money. That'd be a nice upgrade for him imo
