REPORT: Miami finalizing home and home football series with Texas A&M - State of The U

Jimmy Johnson was on Lebatard's Show this morning discussing how Miami's schedule was different and difficult in the 80's. Miami played a minimum of 6-7 ranked opponents. I can't stress enough how important it is for Miami to schedule competition like Texas A&M. Why you may ask? The playoff committee takes into serious account how strong and weak the schedules are for teams contending for a title. Also, should Miami lose a game, a strong schedule puts us in position to stay in the run for the playoffs. Secondly, these games help recruiting. Kids come to Miami to play these big games. In this case, it helps us with kids from Texas. Thirdly, it helps selling tickets. I hope we continue scheduling the best of the best.

Not that exciting. We just had a home and home with them a few years back. Would have preferred a different SEC team.

As a Texas cane will be nice to take the drive to college station to visit the cult like atmosphere while they lost to my canes lol

Can't remember if we beat that Jorvorski Lane Texas A&M team or not. I feel like we beat them at home - anyone remember?

We beat them twice

In '07 at the OB when they were ranked 16th (34-17), and in '08 at College Station (41-23)

Jovorskie Lane was on the team both years

Pretty dramatic decline in scuedule quality since 07. From 84-07 there was at least 4 ranked teams every year except 95. (Which had 3 rated teams) Since then we've had 3 or less ranked teams every year but 2009 and 2015, including 2 seasons with one ranked opponent.

No point in going back before 93, we were an independent and could schedule whoever we wanted.
