Central has played in Class 6A state championship games five years running, winning each of the past three years and four of the last five. The defense carried the load last season, allowing just over 12 points per game, and will look to do so again in 2015. FSU commit Keir Thomas, who accounted for 20 sacks last year, holds down one side of the defensive line with Florida commit Eric Mitchell playing across from him, while dynamic athlete and FSU pledge Jamel Cook leads the secondary. Central will have two capable options at quarterback in returning starter Jerrod Thomas and Gulliver Prep transfer Anthony Hasan, who will both be looking to get the ball in the hands of senior four-star WR Darnell Salomon. A pair of massive juniors will anchor the offensive line in OT Navaughn Donaldson and OG Mershawn Miller. With 38 wins in its last 40 games, Central is primed to make a run for its fourth straight state title, and should be one of the top teams in the entire country, if not the very best.

Top 5 high school teams in Florida for 2015

#1 school in the state, perennial powerhouse, and we don't have any commits from there. But FSU and UF with their brand new head coach with zero south florida ties does. You can't explain that.

Thomas is an FSU commit who also has offers from Bama & Auburn, but Al Golden in his infinite wisdom still hasn't offered. Probably because he doesn't weigh enough for his liking. After all, what do Saban, Fisher, and Malzahn know about recruiting compared to Al Golden?

Oh, and before the slurp squad arrives to tell us all how much better this staph is doing at recruiting South Florida after the previous cycle's absolute abomination, here's their talking points...

- Cook is overrated. Stiff.
- Salomon's a headcase. We don't want any part of his character concerns.
- We only want kids who want to be Canes.

At least we just got a commitment from a talented Central kid who has a year and a half to change his mind.

OP's point seemed to be for 2016, though, and we still don't have any from Central for the current class.

Well fwiw Salomon was called "mediocre" at the Opening and was dropped from a 95 to an 87 by 247...

Cook: was quoted as needing to ditch trying to play CB and is either a S or possibly an OLB if he gets big enough. And if he's actually dumb enough to believe he will play both ways at FSU when he doesn't even play offense for Central...maybe he's better off there...he will be in for a rude awakening when he only plays S...

Thomas: doesn't want to be a Cane anyway so who cares. He would be at FSU regardless.

Donovan Thompson I will give you all day, he's a stud.

Eric Mitchell is good but not great and definitely not better than anyone currently commited...

We have 2 2017 commits there already and I believe Mershawn Miller will be offered eventually as well.

I think Salomon plays a lot different in pads, I would not go off his opening performance. Its funny how he was dropped that low but Bruce was not raised in the rankings. Central is loaded with talent as we all know. Not trying to be that guy, but if Golden does not take notice, teams will out recruit us again for athletes at Central. Mershawn Miller and Grayson should have already been Canes even though its a long way from signing day.

That tells u it's a whole organization thing. Who wants to win at all costs n who doesn't because of there image.

Does anyone know what Salomon's interest level in UM is?

Low. I'd say we are in his top 10 but its in the bottom half of that. He won't be here unless we win or FSU, Bama, UF, Auburn, etc don't take him (idk how many WR each of them plan on taking). Other words unless he falls to us by default.

I'm higher on Freddie Swain regardless. If we got to choose 1 or the other I would go swain as the better talent. But Soloman being from Miami Central I would like to have him just as pull for Cook and other future targets to come here. I feel like he would have some kind of pull to a good player like Dalvin had on Davante Phillips

Miami Central is becoming something of a feeder school for FSU, Jimbo Fisher doing a great job competing with the SEC for South Florida recruits. Of course Miami will always pick off a couple like Joe Yearby
