1. I suggest u look at Dawson’s complete body of work pre-Miami

2. Panelist aren’t going to use the conjecture u’re using. They r going to go by actual numbers/performance under his watch.
Looks to have good record prior to Miami and Cam Ward/Mario seem to trust him. But, hey if you don't like Dawson who would you rather 🤔

And Mario trusted Mr. Creep himself, so what does that mean? Lol.

The ? on Shannon Dawson was, was his offense good b/c of him or b/c of Holgorsen? During his stints under Holgorsen at WVU & UH, as an OC he was **** good; but, his stints as an OC w/o Holgorsen, ehhhh not so much.

He left Holgorsen for the bag in 2015 to UK. For context, UK’s rankings were as follows in 2014:
63rd in Passing
77th in Rushing
79th in Total
60th in Scoring

When Dawson came in 2015, these were UK’s rankings:
79th in Passing
78th in Rushing
89th in Total
95th in Scoring

They got worst, & that subsequently led to him being fired.

Next stop was Southern Miss from 2016-18. Again, for context, pre Dawson in 2015 rankings:
12th in Passing
54th in Rushing
12th in Total
13th in Scoring

When Dawson came in 2016, these were So. Miss rankings:
2016-
16th in Passing
62nd in Rushing
T-21st in Total
41st in Scoring

2017-
55th in Passing
41st in Rushing
43rd in Total
58th in Scoring

2018-
39th in Passing
120th in Rushing
99th in Total
89th in Scoring

Once again, So. Miss got worst under Dawson year after year, which led to another dismissal.

He then went back to Holgorsen, first as a positions coach then an OC his last two yrs (2021-22), & voila, he gets another lease on life. What has he shown here w/o Dana? He showed some good (1st 4 games), some bad (next four games), good again (BC), & bad again (Rutgers).

This has nothing to do w my likes or dislikes vs. providing u complete details as to why he’s ranked where he’s ranked. He has shown nothing outside of a few yrs under Dana that he’s nothing more than avg. OC at best, & a middling, below avg. OC at worst.
His W/L record as an OC w/ Dana: 39-27
His W/L record as an OC w/o Dana: 33-29

Here’s the great thing about sports; in the blink of an eye u can change a narrative. He now has access to the best QB he’s ever had, the #1 portal RB in the nation, a dangerous WR room, & arguably a top 10 OL in the nation. So he has no excuses to hide behind:
No more: UK is not a football school
No more: So. Miss doesn’t have the resources like Power 4 schools
No more: TVD or Emory was holding him back.

This is allllll him; but, as of July 30, 2024 that ranking is absolutely correct based upon past work & last season.
