Went to this huge basketball tournament to watch my old HS play, and was watching the game before which was Milton, Georgia, I knew it sounded familiar, and then I heard the announcer say Quart'e Sapp. Turns out the kid can ball on the hardwood too and not only that, I got there in the 1st quarter and he came off the floor once the rest of the game. It was impressive. Even though I thought he was supposed to be at one of the football all star games like a few other teams in this tournament were missing players for.. but anyway..
After the game, during the next games warmups, I saw him standing down below at the bottom of the bleachers so I put my Miami hoodie back on and walked down there. I was walking his way and he complimented my hoodie, and I went up and introduced myself, told him I was following his recruiting and stuff.. mentioned the picture of him and all the recruiting letters in the bath tub and how he had Miami on top and I'd like to see him go there.
I talked to him for maybe 5 minutes before they left to eat, they even asked me a good place to eat and I recommended a place. Basically sounded like he likes Miami, he talked the FSU game and how awesome the crowd and atmosphere was, he likes the coaching staff and the guys on the team, has a good relationship with Hurlie, etc. Keep in mind this was in Bristol, TN, about an hour away from Knoxville, and it's said to be down to us and UT. It really sounded like Miami has a good chance to land him.
Also, I am average sized, about 6'0 185 lbs and he isn't that much bigger than I am, nor very stocky built. Maybe some concern that he wouldn't be able to play early because of that. Looks like he could use a RS year, but he's very athletic which is the kind of LBs I like to have.
