Memphis vs Tulsa

One thing I think needs to be reiterated regarding Fuente and Herman is that as long as you score more points than the opponent, you win.

I really don't think they're defenses would be bad at all at UM, especially considering how good SoFla athletes are.

Even if the defense sucks, look at Baylor and see what thyre' doing

This guy gets it.

This thread is half full of Blake James.

Why use our biggest recruiting advantage when we can line up in the I with a FB and 2 TEs and play D!

14 straight, 8 of them on the road.

I suppose he should win EVERY game at Memphis because Memphis is ELITE and EVERYONE is INFERIOR.
Why don't we withhold judgement until after they play Navy, Houston, and Temple all in a row? Just curious if the perception would change if he finished 8-4 or 9-3? 14 in a row is no doubt impressive, but 42 points to a 3-3 team is worrisome especially when looking at their scheme. I did see some aggressive stunts and blitzes, but I also saw lots of zone and two and three man fronts, which after the current clown staff, is a red flag. Maybe if he came here he could get his old DC back? On offense, Memphis looked very good. Loved all the play fakes and option plays. Also loved the jet sweep game. However, some of those throws were only possible because of how big their QB is. His height allows him to see things Kaaya could never see and also helps him fit it in tight throwing lanes because he can utilize a throwing arc that most QBs could never dream of.

Fuentes just interviewed post game...said he was not happy (they won by like 24) teams need to be more disciplined, etc etc.

If fat Al won by 24 he be beside himself.

That's just "coach speak". Fraulden has done the same, giving vague replies. He should have added that his DEFENSE sucked, and he's changing to an aggressive 4-3.

Withhold judgment, honestly Drewm, you're too much of a potato to understand. You just are a heel digger.

Fuente ALREADY went 10-3. He already won the conference. He took a dead program with no talent and revived them. Who does more with less than this guy? Need proof? He was able to beat Ole **** with by 13 points. This isn't supposed to happen. Teams with more (Ole ****) are supposed to beat teams with less (Memphis). Memphis, before Tulsa, was ranked 18. That number will improve. This isn't supposed to happen at Memphis.

Fuente is in the middle of a 14 game winning streak. 8 of those wins are on the road. How can he win more than 14 games over 14 games? Should he beat the team twice?

You think Tulsa is garbage, cool. Tulsa scored 38 points against OU this season in Norman. Their HC is Philip Montgomery(Baylor's OC from 06-14), they score points.

Try and read a little and understand the candidate before you have such stubborn and irrational opinions.

Consigliere,

Good stuff. You seem to be very knowledgeable about Fuente. I know he is a Patterson disciple, that he has a track record of developing QBs and that his offenses are elite. What II really want to know is what exactly is his defensive philosophy? What style of defense did they play last year with the DC that left for Mizzou?

I will say two things about his defensive philosophy and you touched on one of them.

1. He learned under Patterson and that is a pretty good teacher especially on defense.

2. I think he is able to assemble a good staff. He found Odom, who only coached only S at Missouri, before he hired him for DC at Memphis. Last year, with Odom and those 8 starters back, they had the 11th best scoring D and 27th/28th best total D. This year, he lost Odom and 8 starters on D, it isn't exactly super easy to reload with talent at Memphis. They promoted their LB coach Galen Scott who is a first time DC. Even with all this, they're winning. Also, look at what Odom is doing at Missouri this season (6th best scoring D and 9th best total D).

I am not concerned with his defense.

At the end of the day, you either win or lose.
