Golden is on record stating that this 2015 team is bought in and players have said that getting rid of the "me guys" has helped the team unity. Who exactly were the "me guys" that are being called out?

Duke is a great kid and was a really good player for us but my perspective was he and his mother were all about Duke.

Still love the kid and wish him well.

Yeah. If only he would have been less selfish, maybe he would have broken more records and carried the team even more than he did.

The staff would never say it, but Eric Flowers would have been at the top of the list, followed closely by Duke Johnson.

This is the new excuse for '15. We're a "team" this year so the fans should buy in. I'm not buying in. Good coaches win with good talent. Bad coaches lose with good talent. Period.

Well the only guys we lost of any consequence were 9 NFL guys. So I would assume that those are the "me" guys. Gotta feel for Al, tough to win in the ACC with those "NFL types" around. Any coach needs a 5 year grace period to weed that kind of stuff out.

Isn't a coach's job to mold the individuals they recruit into a team??? I guess Urban Meyer and Nick Saban get all the team guys right out of high school. Poor Al. Enough already.

Go Canes!

We don't need selfish NFL talent. We need more coal shovelers like Fentress

This porst is incredibly sad.

Johnson was, by all accounts, a leader in Miami's inner-city while attending UM, he broke several records at a position where some of UM's all-time greats have played, and oh, this:

Susan Miller Degnan @smillerdegnan · 7h
Love this: @DukeJohnson_8 said the accomplishment that means most to him is "probably when we won the ACC Coastal co-champs'' in '12

Yeah, he sounds like a real selfish kid.

I don't believe any of this "me guys" crap that Fat Loser is spewing now.

His Cloud is gone. Nearly everyone on last season's roster was a kid he had recruited. He has completely ran out of excuses for shltting the bed against any team with a pulse. So, in turn, he's getting desperate and blaming the players.

And what's just as sad, is that we have a ton of losers on this site sticking up for that Pile of Garbage.

None of you are "True Canes" (you dorks love using that term) and you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Meant to plus REP you. Clicked the down rep instead by mistake

That Penn State no name on the jersey crap is ingrained in this staff. All the hashtags are just code words for it. **** is a "me" guy?

Will never work down here.

Sheesh, Al...sheesh.

You know, there's something called the internet and what you say is ALWAYS online. Ladies and Gentlemen, please note what Golden had to say, last year, about the team full of "me" players:

"There's a standard of excellence at the University of Miami, and you're held to that standard, which we've all accepted by going to the University of Miami. The one thing I think that's different about this team is that they believe in who they are, so they certainly respect the past, but they want to represent who they are and their identity as a football team. There's been nothing about the 2014 team that even resembles the 2013 team. They wanted to be their own team, have their own leadership and really move forward. So I'm excited about these guys saying, 'OK, let's go out and make our own identity’ as opposed to relying on something that happened quite a while ago." -- coach Al Golden

Now, what's interesting is that Golden has used this excuse before. He threw Shannon recruited players under the bus, first, in 2011-12. In 2013, he mentioned how this was finally his team, since 95% of the team were all hand-picked by Golden (we know how that season finished out). It's just amazes me how all these slurpers still follow this guy. He's the Jim Jones of college football.

This is what you get when you shop a Kmart for a football coach. He can't coach 4-5 star players to win games yes these guys are headstrong and that's what makes them All Americans Golden can't manage Alpha Dogs plain and simple he's used to 1-2 star players who think he's God and follow him with no resistance win lose or draw!

71 Anthony Chickillo DL 6-4 282 Sr. Tampa, Fla. (Alonso HS) save self, stop playing hard last 4 games
91 Olsen Pierre DL 6-5 300 Sr. Rahway, N.J. (Fork Union Military Academy) (Rahway HS) with Bears now only because Golden brought him from TEmple, but still save self, stop playing hard last 4 games

“If you have your leaders go in the tank, say, ‘Ah, [bleep] it,’ then the whole team will go in the tank because those guys have the most influence,” Howard said.
“We really wanted the [FSU] game bad and it was emotionally draining on us. There wasn’t the same fire [after]. Once they see leaders… not having their heads down” that won’t happen again.

Did guys really quit, or got fed up that Golden was not giving them the best opportunity to win, except when it made Golden system and pillars look good? so may they have rationalized that since D'Ono and Golden cared more for their system to be proven right rather than winning the way S. Florida guys know best how to make plays and having players loose?

I think Golden used the wrong terminology about Selfish guys. I think he really meant the team didnt buy in and when they dont. Everyone is for themselves. But its making him look bad either way.
