A punter who kept flipping field position in a pivotal division game has garnered NFC special teams player of the week honors.

The Falcons’ Matt Bosher becomes the first punter in franchise history to earn the award, the NFL announced on Tuesday.

Of Bosher’s five punts in Sunday’s 30-14 win at New Orleans, four pinned the Saints inside their 15-yard-line. Only one was returned, and the Falcons stuffed it for no gain. Overall, Bosher’s five punts traveled 221 yards (44.2 yards per try).

The 27-year-old Bosher averages 45.4 gross yards per punt (40.2 net yards). He also handles kickoffs for Atlanta, forcing 45 touchbacks in 81 attempts.

The Falcons (6-9) play the Panthers (6-8-1) for the NFC South title on Sunday.

I can’t name a Miami player [in his prime] who’s a star in the league. Other than Jimmy Graham, I can’t name one.

OOOOOOH BURN! Matt Bosher's a STAR.
