The ibis fits the Hurricanes perfectly. The first to shelter and the first to return after the storm, and Indiana's?

Hoosier makes sense since it is someone from Indiana, check one makes sense but the mascot, you have to be kidding a BISON, you know the ones roaming around the fields in Indiana, whoops I mean western states like colorado, Wyoming but Indiana, nah! They could be Indiana myotis bat, a species significant to the region. Vicious creatures those bats, spooky too! OR I get it the he Eastern Hellbender Salamanders, North America's largest salamander, is found in Indiana's waters. Sounds kinda nice the Salamanders but no, they go with Bisons, I wonder if they have any in a zoo? They should consider a more meaningful Mascot.

You are the CIS mascot, and you are perfect in every way.

I vote for Eastern Hellbender Salamanders.

Because they couldn't figure out how to make a hayseed a mascot.

Nebraska nailed it though

Bison were all over Indiana and Illinois until the 1830s. Athletics started in 1860s for IU with baseball being the first sport.
