Mark Richt Discusses Scrimmage

Having a FG block is unacceptable after last years FSU game. They better get this straight.

Summary:

- Defense dominated the offense
- No points scored against the #1 defense
-#1 offense had a couple touchdown drives against the #2 defense
- Offense looked inconsistent
- Rotated the quarterbacks
- Veterans did better. The young guys struggled with assignments and knowing what to do.
- Young guys have more upside. Thinks they'll learn from this one and get better for the next scrimmage
- Hot day. Wants to go uptempo on offense and take advantage of the heat.
- the offensive line: the 1's are way ahead of the 2's

This schit is frustrating.

When I asked earlier in another thread about ST's and how they looked in the scrimmage and didn't hear a peep I know something was fvcky.

The question is what was the problem on the blocked field-goal. I don't know if anybody knows. Was it missed blocking assignments? Did the kicker kick it too low? Which kicker was it? These are important questions.

you been dead on this **** for over a year now and it's still not fixed.

This is a good time to work out any kinks on FG protection. Without knowing why it was blocked or who gave up the block it's useless.

Missed FG off the crossbar and a blocked FG.

Just ******* peachy. (for the record I missed the part where Rick talked about the blocked FG)

Sounds like our FG blocking unit is legit going to keep some cheap 3pointers off the score board this year.

I really liked Coach Richt's thought process as it relates to QBs and how they're likely to progress over the coming weeks. No reason to rush into a decision today, but let's start cutting down that list of 4 QBs getting 1st and 2nd team looks. No reason to freak over who's selected, either way, as it seems like an aspect of our team that will be continuously evaluated.

After how bad we were last year at kicking I'm thinking we're more likely to still have a ****** kicking unit than a suddenly amazing field goal blocking unit.

In the post game CMR stated something that made me pay attention. He stated the heat was an issue especially at the "Tempo" we were going at! Are we going to go Tempo read option? I know CMR brought in former Oregon head coach over the spring to pick his brain. Are we trying to run a Oregon Tempo Offense ? Is he going away from pro set?

This year we probably will use more spread because of te issue and it matches personnel . Long term I'd expect more multiple sets.
