Lol I just said Unless Nickel/whoever ACTUALLY EARN it on the field this year we basically shouldn’t blindly trust them to be ready next yr. When you can land the top portal QB you don’t pass just cause you’d prefer to fill the role via hs development. What I’m saying is entirely logical. It’s basically saying It’s worth paying to significantly reduce the risk out of the most important position on the team.
#2 TEAM sports has obviously never been your thing if you think this is the formula for going about building a squad yearly. Hence why the most talented team VERY RARELY wins the Superbowl or **** near any other championship that year lol

But to this statement, how often does having the most talented team lead to not making the playoffs or sucking? Not very often. Talent alone may not win you the championship, but it puts you in the grouping to compete for the chance. Tell me how often do teams win Championship without great QB play or just in general across team sports without great play from the most important position? #3 Both Nickel & Coleman were both ELITE 11 finalists in their classes hence they were both deemed ELITE QBs .
The term itself is obviously up for debate. What isn't is that in their classes regardless of ranking they performed to that standard. Both of them had offers from virtually any top team in the country. Would seem they were a lil more highly regarded then you and your evaluations seem to believe rotfl.
Ok they were E11 finalists….Dawg that does not make them elite recruits. This is just objectively true. It literally doesn’t matter how much we liked them or didn’t. Nickel was a 3star and Colemen was a low 4star. I liked both as recruits a lot and are exactly the type of guys I’ve been saying we should recruit. I just fundamentally disagree with you when you say we can’t land THAT quality of recruit while hitting portal for QB. Like It’s factually untrue. If we spend we will land guys. Period. Oregon has no problem getting hs QBs and they’ve gone portal shopping yearly. Lane doesn’t have any issue. My ACTUAL disagreement with you is You 10000% can land QBs of their quality out of HS while landing portal QBs. My evidence for that is we literally DID IT, and we have now done it 3 times and just now landed our by far best HS QB recruit of the bunch and of easily the last decade plus. I will 100% agree KEEPING them is harder when you always hit the portal. Especially if they are entering yr 3. But recruiting them? No.
I do think it’s funny that you are now trying to twist this into me somehow saying they aren’t good recruits though - especially given I have quite literally never been anything but positive about them. I haven’t even ruled out that one of them actually steps up and earns the job!! Like
You said one thing that's right. We don't NEED elite QB play with the talent level of the squads that were building. However our coach doesn't seem to agree with your assessments in general. I'll just go along with his choices cause that's all that matters.

If nickel is the QB I’d support him. I actually hope He or Izzy are THE GUY. But again go back to my original post - I said UNLESS THEY PROVE IT, then it’d be foolish to enter next season purely on hope. The risk would be significant when we already have a proven track record of landing the top qb in the portal and it being extremely successful.
