Do you guys think Mark Richt actually thinks his current staff is the best he could get with the budget he has or he just doesn’t give a fck and is gonna sign whoever he wants

Like seriously can he look at his oline performance and think that Searels is a good coach he wants on staff?

When you assemble a staff of position coaches, you do so with two things in mind; Teaching and Recruiting.

If you assemble an older staff that is better at teaching/developing players then you have to spend more time, effort and energy in recruiting. If you assemble a young inexperienced staff like CMR did here, then you need to spend more time developing the teaching skills of your position coaches. I think CMR cannot do that because he is also the offensive play caller. I think he needs to give up those duties and focus more on developing his position coaches. O line and special teams jump off the page as examples of where he could better spend his time besides figuring out which of his 6 plays will work best against a given opponent.

Searels isn't a good recruiter or teacher though.Yet, Richt doesn't seem to want to get rid of him.

Its his ego

Alot of coaches have trouble putting that aside, too much pride. Its surprising being that his faith should be the opposite of pride and **** like that u would think he sees it.
He pretty much knows the honeymoons over and its over........there were warning signs the first 2 years he was here but people ignored them its the same thing people ignored Maliks flaws because we were winning. Coach like Kul and Diaz jump ship cause they know a sinking ship when they see one, same reason Mario left Golden in 2 weeks.

Egos can kill careers.......sabans ego wouldnt allow his offense to spread it out until it had direct effect on his team losing to Clemson.....he adapts opens it up lets his ego go and now there unbeatable.

At this point he is most concerned with being right, in the face of all contrary evidence.

Sad really, because if he used the Diaz example as his selling point he could recruit and develop a **** of a staff and be quite successful here.

Crony capitalism, milk this Miami money cow as much as u can for his friends and family. With the adidas deal, the acc network deal, clemson playoff and most likely natty appearance, and the stadium being as full as it has ever been for the last 2 years money is no longer an excuse.

Did you actually think another Mark Richt sucks thread was necessary or did you just not give a fck and start yet another one anyway?

Two things:

1) Richt values continuity. It's a five year plan not a two year plan. He has a lengthy and documented history of not firing people.

2) OL is BY FAR the most difficult and lengthy position group to develop. You recruit guys out of high school, ideally redshirt them, and ideally they don't see meaningful time until they're RS Jrs or Srs.

But that's specific to OL. And yes, I think Searels is a disaster.

As for the rest of the staff, my guess is there's extra money floating around. I think after Diaz left, the only guy on the staff that's really banking is Dugans. And he'd deserve it if the receivers he recruits could catch a football. Hartley is probably being paid decent because he recruits well. He should give half of it back for the unmitigated disaster that is our special teams.

There's no reason to leave money on the table, and with Diaz gone and our DC's as they are (who shouldn't be paid much at all as unproven DC's), we should be hiring a top-flight OC. But we all know we won't.

Which means in all likelihood either:

1) There's money left on the table, OR
2) We're paying way too much for somebody.

Either way it's bad.
