The buyout was given to him as compensation, which then went to Temple. This is SOP, buyouts are credited to the actual coach, schools then give the coach the money, who then are responsible for cutting the check.

The contract was between Manny and Temple. A contract buyout is indeed compensation to Manny.

so we paid him 5.5 million in year 1? or did the buy out really get grossed up so the 4 mil is actual 6.4 million. probably the later. his first year compensation was 3.1 million.

it is still dollars. we are paying the guy over 5.2 mil a year if he gets canned at the end of this year.
