Manny says Miami Hurricanes quarterbacks are playing too slow

“All three pretty much even,” Enos said. “All of them played really, really slow - slow in the huddle, slow at the line of scrimmage. Too indecisive, all three of them at times. The pocket demeanor got them in problems at times and when they played more decisive and their feet were good they played very well.

Enos stressed he’s not worried about the QB position and pointed out that the defense has the continuity of having the same system while “we’re trying to learn a whole new offense.”

“Not worried at all,” Enos said. “The competition for all three will make each one better players and the cream rises to the top. May be the best man win.”

I mean in a nutshell there’s your answer why you probably won’t have a clear leader at the end of spring practice

I first posted this on 3/15 in QB Preview thread, so Im gonna repost it because it still stands.

In terms of pure talent I believe all 3 are on the same tier, they vary in degrees (accuracy, arm strength, footwork etc) but the main thing that will separate them is how hard they work & how hungry they are to win the comp.

Preparation, how quickly they pick up the offense/learn all the reads & who can take command of the huddle is what will separate them & ultimately decide who we roll with come 8/24. The intangibles of leadership & study habits will outweigh the tangibles of raw ability.

Manny says:

Day after day, one guy may poke his nose in front then the other guy pokes his nose… It’s all just mental right now.

And so, yeah, would somebody jump out there and run away with it in the next two weeks? That’s possible. But there’s a real good chance it could go into the summer.”

.
QB competition is going into the summer, fellas. Count on it.

Like I’ve been preaching, even in the unlikely event someone starts pulling away in the next two weeks left of practices and scrimmages, this competition will be won between the end of spring practice and the first few weeks of summer practice.

Whoever puts in that time, to put in not only the extra physical work and improve their footwork, throwing motion etc., but also to learn the offense so that it becomes second nature, and then implement that in practice in the summer/fall, that’ll be your day one starter. They will all still be in it at the end of spring practice.

Manny wants to play fast, and you don’t do that without knowing the offense inside and out
OCCC.......with playbook knowledge, comes speed in execution........that is what Enos is all about.

No, it goes into the summer because nobody is going to really be ahead until practice in the summer.

Spot on , now in spring the learning curve is applied excuses accepted , what's expected is laid out and instructions are given how your expected to return.......Then the gloves comes off no more tears when summer fights begin.....and I want to hear there OL / DL fights helmets thrown.

Without remorse everyones been warned it's on come summer.

That's a wrap. 8-4 guaranteed.

Au contrare frere!

I think Enos' dedication to getting the basics and intricacies of his new offense understood and encoded into instinct & muscle memory of the offense will ensure that we do better than 8-4

The main thing this team has to do is build up its character.....overcome their tendency to get down when behind and especially after a loss and develop that refuse to lose attitude

Thank you

I’d take it a step further where the team needs to develop a hunger mentality - hunger to crush opponents. And not let up regardless of the score or time left on the clock. That will help break the will of our opposition and ease us into victories this season. But to your point they need to also have a winner’s steel to themselves so that they’re not too high or too low, and can overcome the challenges of being behind if that happens this year.

Great cis qb gurus Manny trying to tell you guys the offense especially the qbs won't be quick fix gonna take some time to undo some bad lazy habits they've gotten use to last couple years.the defense will be fine but it'll take a season or two to work out the kinks in the offense.Mark it 20\20 Miami hurricanes will make a lot of noise.

What's crazy is , we were this bad at QB and have to get basics all over again even after they've been here 11/2 years,it's just so bad to have had this deterioration to the point we were just free spinning doing what ever with no solid grounding to grow and evolve in raising the bar.

Like starting all over like little league.

Lmao, what do you think would happen when no Tru offensive coordinator.
I mean it's like this, if Richt had been calling offense all of his career we would have been fine, then you take into account his son and the position he had.
Simply put....we really weren't developed at that spot before CMR, and his staff did nothing to improve it. Now all of a sudden we think it's going to happen overnight.

The best thing you can do is create a real *** competition and let the "options" know that we're not accepting what you're doing by bringing in MORE competition (aka Martell). I seriously would not expect our QB play to be where we want it next season, but only because there's is a culture change, a philosophy change, and still a lot of youth at that spot.

I'll try to be optimistic, but honestly I don't see any of our QBs just absolutely blowing me away this fall. I hope I'm wrong though.

Didn't see them so I can't comment.

All indications are we still have a loooooooooong way to go before any decision is made on who our starter is.

Their tempo needs to improve because they set the tone for the offense; so happy Enos harps on the importance of this. Tate has OSU reps with the tempo and confidence Enos wants. Kosi has reps but there was't the sense of urgency last season and Jarren hasn't had the opportunity to show what he can do at this level. At baseline Tate has done it before but I can't say the same for the other two. We'll see. They'll play faster as they get more comfortable but they've only had a handful of practices.
