...that he's not the guy.

Reality check to all of those who've been paying attention. This team hasn't been run properly top to bottom since 2000. Not even 2001. It's not been since the year of our Lord in the year 2000 that we've had accountability, a stacked staff and all things clicking on all cylinders.

Manny made a TON of good moves since he was hired in January. Yes, things haven't gone our way, and we are an impatient squad, but I truly don't think we have enough data yet to determine whether or not he can turn this around.

FACT: He inherited a flabby and undisciplined team.
FACT: He had to clean house on the offensive side of the ball.
FACT: Last night, playing on the road against a much better than expected UNC team, and operating with a depleted, patchwork OL, our offense looked the best it's looked in a LOOOOOONNNNGGG time! It hasn't been since the Fish years since we've actually trotted out an O that looked that good, that was that complex and had a QB with ability.
FACT: We haven't had a QB this talented and with the (albeit brief) track record of showing that he can and does continue to learn and get better, since 2002.

Look, the ST's looks the worst it's looked since...maybe ever, and that's a HUGE deal. AND, if Manny doesn't do something demonstrably aggressive this off season to fix it, then I'll come over to the fire Manny crowd.

And, the D has taken tremendous steps backward and that has to be fixed. DL is one of those things, unlike creating a good OL, that doesn't take long at all to get better at if you have a good DL coach and the same is true for the DL going in the opposite direction. We got spoiled with 3 years in a row of excellent DL coaching. Unless the DL makes a dramatic improvement, it's pretty clear that Stroud has to go after the bowl game.

Also, Manny needs to spend more time with Blake (DC). I understand that the HC position requires a lot of different things, HOWEVER, when you bring back most of the same coaches from an elite D and many of the same players and supposedly have kept the same system and you are demonstrably that much worse, then he, Manny, must act immediately to stop the hemorrhaging. Manny can't afford two more regular season losses because his D has taken a huge step backward.

Back to my original point. I see a lot of signs for hope, but also a lot of concerning things as well. We simply don't know yet that Manny can't get it done. We have a strong QB for at least 2 more seasons and that is the most important position on the team. If Manny will continue to display aggressive accountability across the board and not be afraid to make cuts where necessary, he CAN and I believe WILL rebuild this U. At the same time, I don't think we'll need 3 seasons to figure this out. Basically, a year to 13 months from now will let us know if Blake got lucky or unlucky with his amateurish filling of the HC position. I remain hopeful...for now.

Mostly agree, but not with all of your comments!
