So let's think about this.. We payed 4M to buyout Manny from Temple. We then gave him a 5 year contract where he made 3.1M his first season and each year it increases. We now would have to Buyout the rest of Mannys contact. Let's say 11-14M. Now we will have to buy out our next HC unless you want a failed HC that was just fired or another first time HC. We now have to also give our new HC around 3.5-4M per year. So let's say we hire Cristobal, it would likely cost at minimum 20-25M to Buyout everyone and pay his first year salary.

If you can find out what Lincoln Riley’s buyout was from his initial HC contract, that’s most likely your answer.

Their contracts were almost identical

No way his buy out is that much
You would need to Buyout 4 years of his contract. He will be making around 3.5-4.5 each season considering his APY goes up each season. Most Buyout are 80-85% of the remaining contract. So I would say 12M is a safebet to fire a HC after his first season

1. We'd be crazy to hire Cristobal
2. Cristobal would be crazy to leave Oregon

Other than that I expect Manny's buyout to be huge given James incompetence.
It's got to be at least 10M. He's probably owed somewhere around 13-15M for the next 4 years

12M is Ludacris to buy out especially considering how long it took for someone like the Soffers to come through with that amount to get the IPF on the ground floor. If that is correct, there is absolutely no way they buy him out. They might as well roll the dice and see what he can do year 2 since the team is pretty young. I know nobody wants to hear that and its no excuse for GT and VT but still reality.

If a school fires a HC it's usually 80-85% of his remaining contract to buy him out. Diaz first year made 3.1M and his deal increases each year. So let's be safe and say he would make 14M over the next 4 years. 80% of that would be 11.2M.

Forget about firing Manny and hiring another coach. Until the athletic department is overhauled, that would be a pointless, counterproductive endeavor.

Frankly, Manny should return next season. We need to clean house in the athletic department right now. Let the new AD get the foundation in place and surround himself with the right people over the next year or two, evaluate the coaches and programs as time goes on, and make the changes he thinks are necessary as he or she deems fit.

This goes way beyond "the right HC hire".

That's not exactly how buyouts work but you're safe in assuming it's at least half that, possibly more.
If a team fire a HC without a legit cause it's usually around 80-85% of the total remaining contract. For instance if Taggart was fired by FSU after last season it would cost them 21.75M.
