OSU DT Malike Barrow is trying to land in south florida. So depending on how spring plays out there may be another DL pulled from the portal.

He is very injury prone unfortunately.

Due to his injury history, Barrow could be eligible to receive a medical hardship waiver, allowing him to have a sixth year as a college football player. If the NCAA does grant him the extra year, he will have three years of eligibility remaining, and is able to play immediately for his new school.

The 6-foot-2, 280-pound lineman only played in two games for the Buckeyes, but came in with a ton of hype and anticipation. Unfortunately, his potential was never able to be reached in Columbus, so he may blossom somewhere else.

Chigozie graduates this month & will be here by May.

Plus we have 3 TF DT's coming between May/June/July. If he's injury prone why would we want him?

We're pretty stacked at DT & we need to leave a spot open for a potential GT OL after Spring.

How many on the roster at the moment?

Also, we dont have a problem with the 85 overall limit, our issue is the 25 max per year. If we are not already at 25 this year, we are at 24, so we simply have little to no room this year.

I’m not advocating going after the kid/taking him, because I really don’t know much about him and he can’t stay healthy. But correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t Miami just take another 5-star DL who can’t stay healthy? I’m sure they’re not exact situations, and I know they play different positions, but still.

But moreso, how can you just dismiss any DT at this point?

Nnoruka — 1 year of eligibility left and no lock he’s a game changing player
Bethel — 1 year of eligibility left and has been solid but unspectacular thus far
Ford — 2 years left and hasn’t made the impact a lot of us expected, but it’s money time now. SHOULD turn the corner this year, but is this a lock everydown stud? No. Hopefully, yes. But hasn’t proven anything.
Jade — sophomore and he better be the player we all expect him to be. Expectations sky high and a kid we expect to count on.
Miller — Redshirt freshman. Who knows?
Martin — Stop it
Blissett, Harrison-Hunte, Holley — all true freshmen. No idea what to expect here yet.

So there’s 9 DTs on the roster. Lose at least 3 after this season. I get that there’s numbers here, but there’s not much proven at all. You’d sure as **** hope we can find 3-4 that can play at a high level, and you hope you hit on at least 2 of the 4 freshmen, at a minimum. But if a DT can play, I’m sure as **** not turning him away because of this depth chart.

Spot on.

Where does it say he’s looking to head to south Florida?

This.

Although, if true, i don’t mind the buzz (& publicity) that the portal has generated for UM. It could help with future portal-ees.

I'd pump the brakes on "stacked"...we have a lot of potentially serviceable players...but a lot of question marks.

Because this year is loaded with DT’s and we already have commits. There are still several top DT prospects available in the state to top it off.

Yep. Like I said. The current depth chart and/or kids who might sign in 9 months shouldn’t and won’t scare off any potential DT transfers.
