Miami Hurricanes star-studded sophomore wide receiver Malachi Toney just broke the single-game wide receiver record in Miami Hurricanes’ history.



Toney got open deep with a 48-yard catch, breaking Eddie Brown's record and becoming Miami’s single-game performance leader. Toney finished the day with a total of 233 receiving yards on 12 receptions and three touchdowns.

He made the Stanford defense look lost every time they tried to guard him one-on-one. Toney always found a way to get open in space with his smooth route running. He is a very elusive slot receiver who can turn a hitch route into a 20-30 yard play. It's just the type of player he is.

What a start for his sophomore season. What a day for Toney.

Kid is incredible, we've had great Canes...he just might be the best ever! He's an all around great player, that replay of his block was as impressive as his ability to get wide open, then his YAK yardage. He is fearless as he catches punts and incredibly elusive when he has room to roam. Another game with zero drops...

 

We might have 2 dudes in New York at the end of the year.

This kid is naturally gifted with insane strength and you combine that with the fact that he has a maniacal work ethic and is described as a really mature dude. His contact balance is out of this world. So many examples of it last year. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a WR with this level of contact balance.

 

And most of it was in the first half!

 

 

What makes him even more incredible is that he looks so ordinary and he's soft spoken plus very humble. Even our greatest receivers dropped catchable balls yet he continues to catch everything now having 156, I wonder if that is a record that is monitored
