Don't spend ANY money on UM. Yes this includes basketball.

If you opt to not spend on football as a statement, but instead spend more on bball, you are in essence making the problem worse.

Money from sports all goes into the same pot and then is divided by need. It's how women's tennis exists; football revenue goes towards it, etc etc.

Whether you give 100 to basketball and 0 to football, or 50 to each, it's still 100 to the AD and has no negative impact on them.

Even worse, Miami would LOVE to be a basketball first program, as it is much much easier to bring in 5 borderline academic kids each year than 25. Miami would have no qualms about being Wake Forest, and shifting support to bball simply justifies this. Plays right into their elitist anti-305 culture mentality.

Here's a better idea: email the AD and offer 100 dollars to Al Goldens buyout. Tell them they have no excuse.

I'm taking my *** to the BUC to support legendary coach and local gangster Coach L. He's a man that gets shlt done and deserves the support of fans. I will not punish him or his program because he shares a building with that sweaty New Jersey piece of shlt.
 
WTH: one of the best posters around, but you're wrong on this one. Sounds like the cats that say, "I'm going to support Duke and Denzel not ******".......

It's like someone who decided "I'm not going to support Pepsi anymore bc soda gives people diabetes! I'll drink Gatorade instead", when Gatorade is owned by Pepsi.....thus making no impact or statement whatsoever.

Can't tell you how to spend your money, but if you wanna talk making a statement, paying the AD via basketball isn't a solution.
 
Golden, I am sure they will miss your donation and seat purchase of the nose bleed seats you have. Support the kids.
 
The basketball team is a fun program. They are scrappy and they overachieve. Coach L regularly out coaches people, which Al Golden has never done. We need to support programs like men's basketball so that there is incentive to hire competent and competitive coaches.

Coach golden keeps our defensive statistics 100 out 117 via ncaa ranking.
 
No one is denying Coach L is a boss. But if you spend more money on basketball instead of just cutting of the school, you are not making a statement at all. You are basically saying "it's ok you've ruined football, I'll pay you anyway".

ANY money spent on UM athletics is money spent saying that everything is cool.
