The schedule. Can one of the old timers share with us the reason behind why Magic Benton began the 1996 season like he was Randy Moss before suddenly falling off?
He had a couple of drops. Mostly though, the competition ramped up and he wasn't open as much. Didn't register any stats at WVU I note. Can one of the old timers share with us the reason behind why Magic Benton began the 1996 season like he was Randy Moss before suddenly falling off?

Breakout in the opener vs. Memphis. Was excited about a playmaker we really didn't have since Kevin Williams at the time. What is your one memory of Magic Benton? What play comes to mind and in what game? What mental image comes to mind? Summarize what you think of him in a couple of sentences.

His only catch of the game!I remember a great TD in the Dome vs Syracuse 96, it was, I guess. Very smoove player.
Yes, IIRC the story they told on ESPN one game was that his father wanted to name him "Magic City Bar & Grill," but Mom said that was bridge too far (way too far lol) and they compromised on "Magic"Named after the strip club where he was conceived. More memorable than most of his play at UM.
I had to look it up, that was the Tremain Mack game. I was just 15 at the time but remember it well.He had a couple of drops. Mostly though, the competition ramped up and he wasn't open as much. Didn't register any stats at WVU I note.
Having been to Magic City I don’t recall anyone ever going for the Grill. I don’t even remember if they serve food.Yes, IIRC the story they told on ESPN one game was that his father wanted to name him "Magic City Bar & Grill," but Mom said that was bridge too far (way too far lol) and they compromised on "Magic"

You can forgive him for not having any stats in that game - Clement literally played with one arm that night.I had to look it up, that was the Tremain Mack game. I was just 15 at the time but remember it well.
I’ll admit I didn’t have a Ryan Clement-Magic Benton thread on my bingo card, but here we are.You can forgive him for not having any stats in that game - Clement literally played with one arm that night.
