Losing AQM is bad for Miami, but all is not lost Coach Kool produces a lot of Freshman All Americans at Mizzou. He turned 2* defenisive end Walter Brady last year into a freshman all American for 2015. An considering Joe Jackson is more talented then Brady, Miami should be fine at D-end.

This was Walter Brady's 2014 Sr Yr high school highlights as a 2* in the state of Alabama

Obviously losing AQM hurts but isnt the end of the world.

Grace was our best linebacker at an already thin spot. Richt better hit the waiver wire real ****** quick or we're gonna have walk ons in the 2 deep.

We may have more bodies at DE. Even capable bodies, IMO Mohammed was the only DE with the Quickness to get around the edge combined with the strength to bull rush and be multi-dimensional. With Mohammed there guys like Chad and Willis don't get schemed against as much and have far more productive years. I think we lose a dozen sacks between his production compared to Trent & the added double teams that will bring other guys numbers down.
With the loss of Grace it takes our best athlete away from the position schemed for great athletes, As I understand he was to be more of a rover. Coach Diaz can always scheme to hide his loss a little easier. I'd think the player whose minutes go up more than anyone will be S. Jaquan Johnson as they may play a base nickel most of the time. Thin at LB?? Use less LB's I hope J Rock can get in the box more and unleash hate in the run game with Jenkins and Johnson manning the two deep.
That is why I think Quan-Mohammed is the one that will hurt most.

More athletic?? YES! More potential?? YES!! Is his body ready compared to Walter Brady?? Not in my opinion. He needs another year in the weight room to be consistent. Joe and Pat Bethel.

Grace is the big loss.. He was going to play a big role in the defense and out of all our linebackers he has a lot of game experience. It puts huge pressure on other guys now to call things out that he may have noticed just off experience.

Leonard Floyd played for Richt early and was skinny as ****...even lead the Dawgs in sacks as a frosh. Not saying Jackson is as good as Floyd, but it's not unheard of for Richt to find a way to use his skill set.

AQM has proven himself to be unreliable so how much of a loss is it? Also, not much of a surprise when you think about it...How long would it be until he ***ed up again? Grace is the real loss; still can't fathom how he got caught up in this.

So who steps up? DJack? Move mike smith? Willis outside? Joe Jack?

there is a lot of depth at de, joe Jackson, pat bethel, scott patchan, chad Thomas, demitrius Jackson, trent harris , so de should be fine. id expect trent to start on run downs and be replaced with Jackson on rush downs, but the real loss is grace, this could give us 2 true freshman starters at lb maybe 3 with mcloud, pickney and quarterman,

Oh I agree grace is bigger. I only asked about DE as this was a Kool thread.

As for LB, Owens needs to get healthy and produce. **** man I dunno...****ed up my whole August.

Grace was the safety valve for an aggressive defense .He covers the tight ends and running backs who release. it requires awareness and athleticism. Whoever plays that position will need a learning curve. Remember however that the Freshman lb's had as much time learning this defense as the upperclassmen did. Experience in Donofrio's defense means nothing now.
